Like the selection committee, the board posters will know whether this ND team deserves to be in the playoffs. I for one will use the eye test to determine if the team has progressed to make a real difference in the playoffs. Solid games against NW, FSU, Cuse, and USC that passes the eye test will put ND in the final four, period. Limping in with close wins and poor play might leave them on the outside looking in. I believe neither group wants ND to limp into the final 4 and get showed up once again.
is only a puncher's chance. If you aren't in it, you can't win it. That said I think we would have a 50/50 chance against anyone except Alabama even if we finish strong.
Is LSU any good? They would struggle to score on a high school team.

Crushed Georgia..
why? because they are in the SEC....
Georgia is well coached...they bounced back and beat Florida on the road...They are a good team... Defense is not as tough as last year...ND can beat them...
But there's no reason to think it isn't still one of the best teams in the country. It should've won the national title last season, has plenty of talent back, is 7-1 with a road loss to the #3 team, and has a chance to play itself into the playoff via the SEC Championship. Everyone expects Georgia to be 11-1 a month from now because they are good.
For whatever reason - no one wants to believe it, but the hype just isn't true. but man they do a good sales job.

Yes...they are also well coached...Fromm is a good QB... only his 2nd year....the Defense is not as elite as last year but they beat Florida on the road....
When the head guy makes a statement like "LSU has beaten 6 teams with winning records," as a justification for something, you know they really aren't paying attention.
I'm not really put off by bullshit like that but the committee justifications seem to change with every new year when, for example, in one year, legitimate SOS matters, seemingly encouraging teams to beef up their schedules and a year later it is "LSU has beaten 6 teams with winning records" when by almost all SOS ratings out there, ND has a stronger strength of schedule than LSU.
In the end, if ND wins out, all of this will likely work itself out unless the committee pulls out another eye test bullshit justification like that to put in a one loss Michigan over ND.
I have a hard time believing that that would actually happen but every time one of these guys says something, it is pretty obvious that they will rationalize whatever they do to protect their own.
The five Power-5 champions get automatic bids - no eye test, just teams that won their conference on the playing field. The only committee eye test involves the picking of the 3 wild cards and the seeding.

If there are those that want to downplay success, then the team has the incentive to prove them wrong and take the decision out of others' hands.
The message is clear......just win!
chip/edgy was first thing I thought. They will be focused.
Agree.... People seldom admit to their own bias and other influences...bunch of 40 dollar haircuts on 4 dollar heads..then you are fed the bullshit about the new members of the committee... Have to laugh like hell when I hear the spin....Whose eyes?Whose test?Ohio State and Georgia got smashed...Lol.. and you hear they have to straighten some things out...blah blah blah....
