With Book as QB, defenses are going to keep stacking the box choosing to challenge Book to go deep.
Until Book can go deep consistently, we're going to have trouble running because the Oline can't block 8 defenders on 1st and 2nd down.
My God man, it sure is a good thing that you don't make your living evaluating football players and football teams, or I am afraid your family would go hungry.

Did you see that drive tonight; to put the ball game away? That`s a Brady-esque type of drive. He stays clean, he doesn`t throw many picks, and he has accuracy underneath. What game`s are you watching? If there`s a concern, outside of the ST; how about those 8 or 9 penalties ND had tonight?
You don’t need great arm strength to throw a good deep ball. See: Joe Montana.
If stacking the box means we'll average 38.83 pts per game AND Ian Book will average 247 yds passing / 27 yds rushing / 2 passing TDs / 0.5 TD rushing / 0.67 INT then stack the f'ing box all night long.
Get over it. Wimbush was terrible and as long as Book has at least one leg and a head attached to his shoulders, BW is not playing.
The fact that you think our QB is a weakness makes me wonder if you know anything at all about Football. Are you confusing this game with soccer? Yes the OL is terrible, but that has nothing to do with the deep ball. It's related to having a pitiful guy coaching that position. It's a bad hire. It's extremely bad when Kelly's just propping up another one of his buddies and giving them a job they don't deserve.

Kickoffs, on the other hand, have been pathetic.
And the weakest link on this team is Oline. No doubt about it. Everybody wants them to run the ball more but they can't with this Oline. Can't start drives with no gain or one yard gained. Gotta throw because of this line.
Where would this team be with Wimbush at QB??? Book is a stud. Best decision Kelly made all year.

Book has played well. He’s hardly a “weak link.” But he has struggled in the deep game. Numerous examples of missing open receivers deep. Adding that to the repertoire would make ND more dangerous and likely would help open the run game. That said, Book has made ND a better team and has played well.
