After his freak injury in the GT game in 2015, after playing in 10 games as a frosh the previous year, Drue could have moped about his predicament. The following week after we beat UMass, I was at a players/family tailgate when suddenly everybody starts to cheer as Tranquill rides up in his Amigo with his leg propped up from his surgery. Every player in the vicinity suddenly gravitated to Drue for high fives and back-slapping. The respect these teammates had for Tranquill, including upperclassmen, was truly impressive. It struck me that this was one resilient kid who commanded admiration from his team. What struck me most was his infectious smile and upbeat attitude. You cannot quantify what intangibles like this kid has means to a team.
