one off or are we likely to see this again against Cuse and SC?. I believe it gives the offense many more options when defenses stack the box and with a running QB option. Opinions?
Kelly: Holy Mother of Jesus! That's about the tenth time today that Wimbush has thrown into double coverage. We love the kid but this has to stop. No more passing !!
Long: OK. Let's can the RPO's and run it the way I showed you this week. Let me do this my way.
Kelly: If it works, I'll take the credit.
Long: You always do.
Kelly: Just put Brandon on a short leash and finish these bastards.
Thanks to John Heisler for this headset transcript.
Kelly: Chip, we got to hurry this game up. It's colder than a witch's tit in hell down here. You've got that heated booth.
Long: Coach I promise I will but I just wanted to give Brandon one more short perimeter throw into triple coverage to challenge him. We are ahead by 22 points.
Kelly: Chip, as an inducement I will tell you I've got a big jug of Maker's Mark in our coaches' cubby after the game. We can have a warm-me-up while the boys are showering before we have to do those dreadful interviews with the guys from II.
Long: For sure coach but I have one more request. Will you let me talk to Louisville next week?
Kelly: Only if you will bring me some of those stadium dogs from your guys' buffet. Extra mustard.
He then can either split out or stay in the backfield depending on what the defense does. It is tough to defend, b/c Jafar can't be covered by a LB and if the other team approaches it in nickel then they can use Jones as a lead blocker for Jafar out of the backfield.
What a concept
but when you have a good running QB, as we do in both our QBs, it can be in reality a triple option. I noted this below. I have no idea if we will use this against Syracuse. I imagine a lot has to do with their DL tendencies and LB assignments. Key is we have added to our quiver another arrow. I think our 4th Q run game against FSU was as much a statement to future opponents as a desire to own the football.

...just to make Syracuse wonder if we have any 2 back plays. The plays were pretty plain jane.
