They win the next two games but are not chosen for the playoffs when Georgia beats Alabama and Michigan beats OSU. After beating Oklahoma or another top team in a New Years Day bowl game for a 13-0 record, Alabama beats Clemson in the Championship game making the Irish the only undefeated team in the nation other than Central Fla. Another scenario, other than a loss in one of the last two games, would be a 2012 redux vs Alabama in the playoffs. The Irish are a 20+ point underdog vs Bama.
This scenario is not quite as unlikely as one might think.

How about they win the next 4.
Sounds like a heck of a deal to me

will be very good but beatable. ND is good too.
Notre Dame wins next two and they are in....ND Defense will match up well with Clemson... Offense matches up well with the Clemson Defense...ND has big receivers and Book is elusive....run game gearing up....

Why do you post here anyway?
In just about any scenario, an undefeated ND team cleanly gets into the playoffs. We control our own destiny.
The only scenario I can see where we wouldn't get in, is if the refs give us a 5th down (like Colorado did in 1990) we win by a point because of the gift, and we stay unbeaten only because of that gift 5th down in both remaining games.
That's not going to happen. If the impossible scenario above did happen, and piss off the voters that much, then rest assured, they wouldn't give us a passive national championship.

Secondly, Michigan is not jumping an undefeated Irish team. That scenario is as unlikely as they come.
