But he pointed out what I have....head to head only matters if the committee thinks the two teams are very close
If they think Michigan is clearly better it won’t matter.
Better hope the committee doesn’t think that.

had to have a big comeback to beat NW too.
So you can beat a team and be clearly "better" than them, but if they have a greater goal differential (goals scored vs goals ceded) than you do, THEY advance.

They routinely get 80,000 here for the Atlanta United in Mercedes Benz Stadium

common opponents.
It is not a goal differential based on one head to head, one common opponent... and 10 other games which introduce increasing numbers of variables and unknowns.
The total points become an inaccurate indicator. Alabama could score 200 points against Citadel if they wanted to, for instance.

Exactly....or feed all the stats into a computer and let the computer decide...the game is about match ups and having the ability to rise to the occasion...ND needs to win out and they match up well with Clemson... Georgia is a very good team and has a good shot at Alabama...
Will easily handle Georgia.....it likely will not be a close game
They would beat Georgia 7-8 times out of 10......
Smart will be ready... Alabama is a very good team... Georgia may mix in their mobile QB Fields..Fromm still a damn good QB...if they can get to Tua they can make it a game...
...this week essentially off against Citadel.
Yes... Alabama favored by 59... great scheduling...Need a good mobile QB to beat Alabama...LSU does not have a good QB...why they were shut out... with Tua hurt lot more holding will be allowed to protect him...
Beat Syracuse and USC and it will be difficult to allow Michigan to jump us
If we played them ten times right now I think it would be 5-5.....they are every bit as good as we are
Clemson wins 7/10
Alabama wins 8/10
I think Alabama wins 6/10 from Clemson

Their defense is higher ranked across virtually every single category
They score more points than we do while gaining only 31 less yds per game
Their SOS is ranked higher by Sagarin
Is it inconceivable a team can be better than it was 10 1/2 weeks ago?
They play a mediocre schedule and so have we......by mediocre I mean middle of the road....nothing special, but not a cakewalk
I know in past years Stanford, VT, FSU, USC would have been murderers row.....but what happened in the past doesnt matter anymore....
If it did Georgia and Alabama could claim the same since both have Auburn and Florida on their schedules....teams that in the past have been very good
FSU and VT havent been very good for quite some time
It is very close.....hence why I think we split 10 games.....
to stop them but I think Book gives us an edge.

They always do when they need to beat them. That's why they're Meeechigan.
Michigan and then crushes Northwestern in the B1G championship game...you just know what the drumbeat will be about.
They're behind five one-loss teams and a two-loss team. Nobody is clamoring for them to get into the playoff whereas everyone has decided Michigan is in as long as it wins and possibly even deserves to jump an undefeated ND it lost to.
There's a huge gulf between the threat of Michigan to ND and the threat of OSU to ND. Everyone here should be rooting hard for OSU in a couple weeks.

crowd thinks) in that he is implicitly negating the most problematic interpretation of the Selection Committee Protocol for ND, that if team A and team B are comparable and team A is a conference champion and team B is not than that trumps the other tie-breakers, including head-to-head, because the preamble to the Protocol states, the Committee has "flexibility and discretion to select a non-champion or independent under circumstances where that particular non-champion or independent is unequivocally one of the four best teams in the country." How, if the teams are comparable so that the tie-breaking criteria are needed in the first place, could independent or conference non-champion team B be unequivocally better than conference champion team A and so be included in the Playoff at team A's expense? How would the Committee answer that question, surely to be raised by the power 5 conferences with a 1-loss champion excluded from the Playoff.
Yes because selection committees are on the up and up and lack inherent bias.. because the buzz word this year is clusters...I call bullshit...

Not sure why you’re constantly touting it.
Other one loss teams could theoretically pass an undefeated ND in the right set of circumstances, Georgia being the most obvious.
Michigan can not.
In loony hypothetical la-la land they can...but in reality, with the rest of sentient humanity, they can not.
Every week he talks of UM as if theyre the next Bama...He goes onto say if OSU continues to play like this, UM will easily go into Columbus and win...BUT, (and here it comes), if OSU plays up to its potential and wins, blah blah blah..
THis is just a BLATANT, TRANSPARENT, HOMERISH attempt to get his beloved Suckeyes in the CFP...
Pay him no mind..he's an ahole every week they ask him..

lacking marquee opponents but says nothing about UM's schedule, which includes wins over Western Mich, SMU, Nebraska,Ruptures and a whole slew of that abomination of a Big 10 conference, opponents..And no mention of ND beating the common opponent, Northwestern by more..
Neither has a strong SOS....that is a draw
Please dont act like ND has a tough schedule
It is beneath you
If what you say is true, then Herbie should be lambasting both schedules, but he doesn't even mention UM's schedule, just NDs as lacking marquee opponents..That right there, and on its face, shows his inherent bias..By inference, as he sits back with that smug look, he's saying UM has beaten quality opponents more than ND, which they haven't..UM's best wins, PSU, Wisky, MSU, are all terrible; that conference is abominable this yr..
THANKS FOR PLAYING!
Just because the schedules are similar doesn’t automatically equate to us being equal? Alabama’s schedule is about even or worse and they are far better than us
You proved nothing
if the schedules are equal, as you say...and ND has beaten them...and ND has beaten the common opponent by more....if you're only going to bash one team's schedule, the one with the superior resume, the one with the W in face to face...your prejudiced views are showing,..you have lost any semblance of objectivity...and thats Kirk
Get it now?
We mean relative degree of difficulty of the opponents
That has nothing at all to do with one team being better than the other.
Clearly there are non-ND people thinking Michigan looks better than ND right now......that has nothing to do with the schedule but the fact we have both played similar mediocre schedules supports the idea that perhaps they are the better team?
Just because Herbie is one of them doesnt mean he is an asshole
I happen to think he is one of the better announcers and prognosticators out there. I dont get all wrapped up in the fact he is OSU and might show some bias towards them
I could give a shit. Doesnt change a damn thing for me

Herbie being edgy for the suits at Disney...
opponent by a greater score. a very tough argument for the committee to make.
Who cares what Pretty Boy says or thinks
I honestly can see what people are complaining about. Michigan's schedule has been equally weak.
But, they are going to lose to OSU anyway, so it will not matter.
They think we are closer than Michigan is to us. Yeah, if we lose we are out. Obviously. But Michigan is not going to jump us if we keep winning. I know it kills you to hear that.

1 and 2 are heads and shoulders above everyone else. Good thing is that we still have 3 weeks left of games for all this to work itself out.
Has anyone thought ND would get jumped if they win out?
If we win out no way they jump us.
If we lose we get jumped by someone, not hard to figure out.
Only idjits like Woodie can’t get that.
