Strength of schedule is purely W-L record of opponents (and might also include opponents' opponents). So, a team that has played many teams with very few loses would have a high SOS regardless of their actual W-L record.
Strength of Record is the likelihood of an average top 25 team having our record based on our schedule.

SOS: Strength of schedule played, from perspective of an average FBS team.
SOR: Strength of record - Reflects chance that an average Top 25 team would have team's record or better, given the schedule.
So, ND's SOS is just a measure of the strength of ND's first 11 opponents, without regard to ND's performance against them. So, SOS really has nothing to do with ND.
ND's SOR is a measure of the chance that a top 25 team would be able to go 11-0 with ND's schedule. Our SOR would go down if we were 10-1, and further down if we were 9-2.
ND's SOS is slightly better than Clemson's, and definitely better than Alabama's, and a helluva lot better than UCF's...so, of the undefeated teams, we have the best SOR (undefeated record against the tougher schedule). Michigan has a tougher SOS, but a lesser record against that schedule, so its SOR is below ND's SOR.
