Is much better in many ways. And KELLY has really aged in 6 years.
And, that means we are pretty good.
they are about to peak just in time for the playoff and we get to see their best football then.

I don't base that on stats. Just the eye test.
And, I mean top to bottom, best player to worst player...we are better this year than in 2012, IMO.

...he was exposed in the BCS game by Alabama. He has been a solid pro, but nothing outstanding. He did of course have some great games along th way, but Jaylon Smith was clearly better.

Those two bama RBs (Yeldon and the other one) ran right by him...and again, I ask you, how has he been as a pro? Smith is and was faster to the ball and stronger.
played in that game.
And saying 'how has he done as a pro' has no bearing on a conversation about how good of a college player someone was.
Byron Hanspard was hands down a better college RB than Terrel Davis, but who did better in the NFL?
Ryan Leaf was a better college QB than Tom Brady, how'd that turn out?
Manti Teo was an outstanding college LB, regardless how weak he played in one game when his head was all fucked up, or how average he is in the NFL, or comparing him to another great college player who had more pro potential because he is just more physically talented.

...why was Jaylon projected so much higher in the NFL draft? (And he's clearly now a better pro too). Manti was a throwback LB, Smith, IMO, was just overall better, new prototype.
And the game evolved since each played. As an example, Butkus was a phenom but would not be an every down players today. Manti was great interior stopper while Jaylon probably covered more ground outside.
