Georgia beats Alabama, Oklahoma beats Texas to avenge their only loss, Ohio State beats Northwestern and Clemson wins the ACC ... so who's in the playoffs???
iIf Bama losses then they have to be out. As great as they are they lost at the end of the season. Too bad so sad but your out so Georgia would move into a playoff slot.
If OU beats Texas and wins their conference I would think they would have to be in.
Clemson is a no brainer so they're in.
I don't think OSU should be in despite how good they're playing right now. This is because out of all the potential one loss playoff teams their loss to Purdue was the worst.
So an undefeated Notre Dame "should" be in....right? Well under the above scenario the committee could determine things from a different perspective. They could make their selection based on who they feel would be a more competitive match up.
If the playoffs started today who would you feel confident matching up against.? Bama? Clemson? Or whoever is in the 4th slot be it OSU or OU.? Yes ND is undefeated and yes in theory they should be in the playoffs. But let's face almost everyone (outside ND fans) would consider ND being in a wasted pick. Any team ND matches up with would be a heavy favorite and would possibly win with ease.
So what would you rather go to a major bowl game and play a Texas or Washington State or some team along those lines. Play competitive and actually have a chance to win and cap off a great season. Or potentially be takien to the woodshed by any of the other three playoff teams have all the college world say I told you so.

I go away for a couple years, and the board replaces me with this guy?
Ohio State -- Throw out the Michigan game, and their resume over the last six weeks includes losing by 29 to a 6-6 Purdue team, beating a 4-8 Nebraska team at home 36-31 while allowing 450 yards of total offense, and a 52-51 OT win over a 5-7 Maryland team that dropped 535 offensive yards on the Bucks.
Oklahoma -- What do Alabama, Clemson, Georgia and Notre Dame have in common? All four teams field Top 25-ranked defenses in yards allowed per game. Those four teams are also ranked 3rd, 4th, 10th, and 11th in scoring defenses. OU's ranking in those two categories? 109th and 100th.
Clemson -- Minus some first half red zone inefficiency, ND should've beaten Syracuse by about 50. I forget, how did Clemson look against Syracuse?
UCF -- Yeah, whatever.
Barring any cataclysmic collapses in their championship games, I think it will be Bama-Clemson-ND-OU, but wouldnt be surprised if the Buckeyes sneak in over the Sooners. It all depends on how many members of the committee have paid attention to OU's defense, and/or how many watch just Michigan film for Ohio State and ignore how terrible the team has played otherwise since October 20.

sure all Olympians go for the gold. When you go for the gold you are remembered if you settle, you are not respected. What the hell are you thinking? You fit in well with all the snowflakes the colleges are not educating these days.

- Clemson almost lost to Syracuse this year
- Clemson lost to Syracuse last year
- Clemson lost to Pitt 2 years ago
- Georgia lost to LSU this year
- ND almost beat Georgia last year
- ND beat LSU in a bowl game last year
In your scenario, those are the two most likely semifinal opponents for ND (Clemson or Georgia)... Neither are unbeatable, and I'd actually give ND about a 40-45% chance in either matchup.

It's not important whether ND is ranked 3rd or 4th. What's important is the comparable tier the Committee puts ND in. Last week the Committee viewed ND as unequivocally below Alabama and Clemson, comparable to Michigan and Georgia, and unequivocally better than Oklahoma and the teams ranked behind Oklahoma. If the Committee this week talks about having a "deep discussion" about where to rank ND vis-a-vis Oklahoma and/or Ohio State (i.e., views them as comparable) then it's time to worry about the outcome of the B10 and B12 championship games because ND cannot be included in the Playoff at the expense of a comparable conference champion, ND must be unequivocally better in the Committee's evaluation.
It is difficult to imagine the committee debating the protocol minutiae that you hold so dear. This isn't a court case, but rather a subjective assessment of the four best teams, framed by selection protocol guidelines. Ultimately they will pick who they pick, and they'll twist the guidelines to conform to their selections, not the other way around.
I'm sure the latter will be moved to accept the loss of millions as the Committee abrogates its governing protocol.

We beat 8 bowl teams (assuming Virginia Tech beats Marshall and gets an invite), beat 4 teams that were top 25 at the time, and a team that has managed to work its way back to the top 25.
And... We're undefeated. Only two other teams in contention can say that.
The Irish are in...will most likely play Clemson in the first round (or Georgia if the Dogs beat Bama). They can play either of those teams.
Let me repeat. The Irish are in something they've never been in before--and have a chance to win the National Championship.
And you want to do something less?

No way an undefeated Irish team is left out of the CFP. It just cannot happen. I'm surprised anyone is even thinking that is possible.
In your scenario, it would be:
1. Clemson
2. ND
3. Georgia
4. Alabama

The two teams ahead of us are better teams and IMHO will prolly win.
That said upsets happen and I also balee we can be competitive on the right day with anyone cept Bama. Who knows if it will be the right day. But we definitely belong there.
Yep, that sounds like a plan.
snowflake and maybe a ND nerd who never played or cared about football until he saw how much it meant to people. Give him an orange slice.
