..I knew that sly dog wanted to coach again.
Link: Mack is Back
recruiter is a bit disjointed. Kids flocked to his program and he just picked the best of the best. Times have changed
plus he is older now. I wouldn't pencil this in just yet as a 'can't miss' hire. His best move would be to hire stellar
assistants across the board.
Its pretty much a universal known he is one of the top recruiters of our generation. If you wanna argue he isn't a great coach, then that has merit and I wouldn't argue that, but to in any way question his recruiting ability is just plain ol silly.

Mac had his classes filled a year early, annually at Texas. It's not like that in NC.

That’s over 20 years ago. He’s going to have to work a lot harder in recruiting than he did at Texas.
now he'll have to work a lot harder coaching at UNC than he did at Texas, but that could literally be said for any coach (Saban, Meyer, etc..) that went to UNC from a major stop.
He's not going to win any NCs at UNC (who would) but he will have them playing better real quick and once he gets talent in he is going to be good enough to be quite the pain in the ass for everyone who used to be able to just chalk them up as a W when the schedules came out.

I don’t expect anything seismic.

Yeah, he won the national championship every February. Oh yeah the actual season starts in Sept.

He's only a 'good' coach, but the overall package you get with him is outstanding...hopefully we can get our cycle of playing them out of the way soon before he gets players in there.
Maybe in two or three years start fretting. This is why people think ND fans are fragile.

There is a reason he was pushed out at Texas. I predict he will make an initial splash recruiting-wise, but not be able to both assemble the right staff and develop the program needed to compete with Clemson (or ND).
