Georgia deserves to move up a spot after giving Alabama a good game? Great. Who cares?
He isn't even pimping his beloved Ohio State team that he usually does.
Or does he really hate ND that much that he wants us to drop a spot so that we have to face 'Bama after 4 weeks to rest & get prepared for us?
Either way he is a total and complete imbecile.
Controversy sells. Controversy draws interest. Controversy works for ABC/ESPN/Disney.
I went to law school and lived in Connecticut for about 7 years until a few years ago, and got to know quite a few ESPN employees. It’s all about ratings/web site traffic, etc. It isn’t journalism, it’s entertainment.
Their talent doesn’t typically follow rigid scripts, but they do plan ( and sometimes assign) specific positions/views to specific people. Of course someone is going to make the argument for every far—fetched view to drive traffic. It’s all about $’s.
Think of Lou. He was always assigned the pro-ND viewpoint even when he knew better.
.......that really appear to believe the BS they are peddling.
I have no idea what the guy's name is, but on College Football Final, there was some jerk wearing a purple blazer that had a distinct sound of contempt in his voice when he said (paraphrasing) that "teams sitting at home on a couch on Conference Championship Saturday, is NOT one of the 4 best teams in CF"
Of course noted ND-hater Tim Tebow couldn't agree with him quick enough. Neither of them bringing up the fact that ND was the only team (who was in consideration for a playoff spot) that played a ranked opponent the weekend before "rivalry Saturday" a couple of weeks ago. None of them mentioned how many of their beloved SEC teams played FCS schools or how Alabama's best non-conference opponent was a 2-10 Louisville squad.
I suppose I am gullible and fall for these parlor games/ tricks but when one of these a-holes speaks bad about ND, it's almost like they are speaking bad about a member of my family and I tend to get heated.
It's bad enough people care what Herbstreit thinks, a pundit on the SEC network team is not an opinion we should value.

with the SEC spin being all over the network, its a little harder to believe it is an act. Even worse when ESPN talking heads seem to predict how the playoff will fall out. If ND is 3 tomorrow and Georgia is not in the playoff I will be convinced ESPN doesn't have the pull with the committee I believe they do based on their politicking for Alabama to be in at 4 last year. If Georgia is in the playoff but at 4, I will still be on the fence but lean toward no pull. However, if Georgia is not only in but somehow find themselves at 3 after listening to Kirk Herbstreit almost be beside himself if it doesn't happen, I will be fully convinced ESPN has significant input into who gets in and where they get slotted. There is zero justification for Georgia at 3 over ND other than to avoid the rematch, and that should have zero bearing on the rankings.
ESPN has way too much control and influence over college football and basketball.
