Create confusion since Wimbush is a dual threat to run or throw. Less likely for Clemson to commit to a full on blitz package on stacking the line to trap Dex or sack Book. Read option to Wimbush rolls to hit Dex out of the backfield or Finke in the slot or a dragging Mack.
You could even position both QBs so that either could get the snap (not being facetious). Just might work a couple of times.

And Clemson is expecting this kind of gadget play.
plays in big games especially.
friggin idea) and he goes down with an injury. What happens if Book then goes down?——and don’t say Armstrong for God’s Sake.

The last time I coached soccer(Park District) my kids were maybe 7 to 9. I coached for 3 seasons and we never lost a game and never even had a close call. That wasn't because of my coaching acumen as opposed to my "team building" skills.
By the luck of the draw the 1st year, I had my twins who eventually played high school sports, albeit not soccer and 3 other kids who played soccer on scholarship in college with two of those eventually playing semi-pro in England. I learned a neat trick in that, even though the players were assigned randomly, our Park District allowed me to pick my two assistant coaches. It wasn't hard to figure out who to pick as assistants. Those 5 kids are still friends, although somewhat long distance, today more than 20 years later.
So I got stuck coaching soccer because the head coach quit before our first game. Never played before but did the best I could. So my daughter and her friends are on the team. Kids were great parents a pain in the ass. So last game we are 0-8 and my Dad is in the stands and this guy is ranting what a bad coach I am and said to my Dad, quote “I don’t think this guy knows what he’s doing” my Dad’s response “I can tell you for sure he doesn’t know what he is doing” makes me laugh to this day.
In the face of the really few numbers of bad parents(but whoa were they bad) is because we loved our kids.
I was in and around local baseball leagues for probably 20 years. I continued after my sons stopped playing because I Iiked the 2 other guys I was working with and it got me out of the house. I'm sure we could compare many stories about bad actor parents.
I think I'd rather have Williams and Jones on the field instead of Wimbush as a runner, and I'd rather have Book throwing unless it is a deep ball.
When we stuck Wimbush in recently as a change up, the defense adjusted to 100% run defense, and it didn't work. And if we are relying on Wimbush to make a touch pass under pressure to an outlet RB because the defense adjusted...well, that is just not his strength...that is Book's strength.
Don't get me wrong, I like Wimbush as a running QB...when he is the only QB. I'm just not sure I like him as a throwing RB.
But, I will take yards and points any way I can get them, and if Kelly does something like this, and it works, I will joyfully admit I was wrong.
But I don't think BK will be scared to put Winbush in if Book can't move the ball after a half.
However, I think Book and offense will be able to move the ball enough to stay in this game.
You have two skilled runners in Dex and Wimbush who can also pass which gives Book the ability to read the defense. Tell me I’m wrong.
ND is a good football team that shouldn't be focusing on tricks to beat Clemson.
by teams like New England. They have been pretty solid.
There is a difference between gimmicks and finding something in film that allows you to take advantage of the other team.
Throwing 2 QB's out on the field in hopes to 'confuse' them, is a gimmick.
That’ll confuse the shit out of Clemson.
A high school team in our area is running it this year. It's total confusion for a defense. You can't abandon the run once there's been a pitch or handoff.
It's a gimmick the same way the Read Option was a gimmick, the same way the forward pass was a gimmick, the same way the fake option give/pass to the wideout is a gimmick. In other words, it's not.
Gimmicks are fake punts and fake FGs. Other than that, this is football. It puts an awful lot of pressure on the Defense to cover multiple people.
Yikes.
And even if it is the future, ND is going to install a two QB offense in 15 practices in the most important games they've played in 6 years. And that's not a gimmick.
I really need to put on a football 101 for this board.

How many have had 2 QB's on the field?
It's a gimmick.

I don’t watch much pro football . . . so that’s a genuine question. I’m surprised that any NFL team is running “a lot” of plays with 2 QBs in the backfield.
And the OP is suggesting a 2 QB look not the wildcat.
If ND wants to run the wild cat, fine, but might as well use Dexter since he is superior to Winbush running the ball.

cloud of dust does not work.
Name me any school for that matter and the number of times.

Heck, should we put in PJ and run a 3 QB set? And out in Davis, and have a 4 QB set?
Can Mustipher throw it? Center pass?

I'm sorry, I just don't understand why you do one of the following:
1. Give the ball to Winbush to run, who is a worse runner than Dexter.
2. Allow Winbush to pass, who is a worse passer than Book.
3. All while having to take a playmaker off the field so Winbush and Book can both be in at the same time.
It just doesn't make a lot sense, sorry man.
If I were a defensive coordinator, I would simply stack the line anyways, and force Brandon Wimbush to complete the quick decision, short passes that require a lot of accuracy and timing.
The best way to make the ND offense work, is by using the short passing game to truly spread the field horizontally, so that the running lanes open up. Otherwise, the spread can't work optimally.
We do not have a dominant run game. We have an opportunistic run game. Williams is great, but his supporting cast is not constructed to maximize his yards if we run him all the time. He will do best if Book can complete the short passes. If Book cannot (or if Wimbush cannot), then Williams will have a harder time of it. That's not a knock on Williams. I love him as a running back, and I think he has a great future ahead of him. This Irish team is just not built to put him in front. Book needs to jab, jab, jab before the Williams roundhouse comes.
