Ive never been impressed by a Kelly OL...Holtz had dominating OL play, Joe Moore was probably a genius coaching it..80 yard drives mostly on the ground were commonplace, I think it was an 80 yd drive that closed out Colorado in that 20-6 win over an undefeated team in the OB....Oh, Kelly has had great OL individuals, McGlinchey and Nelson were great but even that line had trouble on 3rd and 4th and 1..It should have been better overall than it was...sure their stats looked good, but they werent dominating like Lou's
Now sure the game has changed, but I dont think ND gets over this hurdle in big games, until a dominating OL is established..

Lou had tough teams,on offense.Kelly does not. Name. A great quarterback developed by Kelly. Oklahoma just has two Hiesman winners in a row!
running games can't be turned on like a light switch. OL who get into a flow run blocking don't typically have problems switching to pass blocking, but when you get them in the flow of pass blocking without ever establishing the run game, then try to switch to run blocking it normally doesn't go well.

Alex B would have helped . I thought that was a dirty play when he was injured against Stanford.
