The Camaro dressed with all of the bells and whistles, but has a 6-cylinder under the hood or the big V8 with loud exhaust letting you know it’s about to leave you in the dust. Exhaust never works well with small engines.
ND either wants to shoot for Rose Bowl-type games or National titles. You can’t make a castle out of a stadium and then say you don’t want to be a football factory. If it’s about winning titles, then do what it takes to win the big games consistently and don’t look back.
But don’t try fooling your fans by dressing the program up as Alabama with a jumbrotron, “suites”, state of the art practice facility, under armour contract, etc., but put a team filled with mostly Stanford-type players on the field.
Pick one.
shunned by all of "collegiate" athletics as it involves establishing a semi-pro team that flaunts the rules and has little to do with the advancement of college students. However the true reality is that money talks... and Alabama is reaping all the rewards.
It's a model that ND wants no part of...now or in the future. Sorry, but that's the truth.
The fair thing is to establish a "minor league" feeder to the NFL for kids who have no desire or business being in college. We're too far into this mess for that to happen ...and it wouldn't cure all ills because collegiate bragging rights are all important to a certain few.

and it will not come up again. Its all about the path less traveled. Under the circumstances, this team deserves accolades for there dedication, determination, talent, resolve, and accomplishment....in spite of playing below standard when it needed to play above against a very good team. I hope they leave a legacy and a standard that future teams will strive mightily to reach. And they won't always lay an egg when over matched and that is what keeps so many paying attention and loving their Irish.

down NDs academic rankings. The school needs to remember that (using your analogy) a Camaro IROC Z brought them to the dance, not a Prius. Maybe the next admin will remember that.
We cannot aspire to be either Stanford or Alabama. I’m ok with that.
Their purpose is to enhance the educational mission of the university.

Lot less frustrating.
That isn’t ND though and won’t be.
