Ian is a capable reliever.
Should be a good situation with our QB talent next year.
In case anyone has missed it, true freshmen QB's rule college football these days.
Rule college football
performer.
Then Book went down...and Wimbush came back for FSU. Confirming Jurko is behind them both...at this point.
Hopefully there is a true QB competition between Book and Jurkovec in the Spring and the best man for the job takes the helm.
He is behind Winbush we are in trouble
Kelly always seems to talk about QBs still "learning the system" after multiple years. Im joking really, but it does seem that way.

unchaining him?

I agree wholeheartedly. We will need him to beat Georgia at their place next September 21st. We were just beaten three times by Clemson on long passes for touchdowns. Ian is a good QB, but he lacks the long ball. Phil has a cannon for an arm. Also, we have to upgrade our receivers. Lenzy, Keys, Austin, and Young can stretch the field. Armstrong is also a fast, talented receiver coming out of the backfield. A major upgrade to our passing game is needed if we want to hang with the big boys.

the other solid teams on our schedule next year. Jurkovec will play some back up minutes for sure, but that's about it.

He IS that good. Coaches don't want to change. Book was outplaying Wimbush in the pre-season camp by all accounts; however, BK wasn't going to do the obvious. It took him three games to see the light. Book saved the season and did a great job, but he choked against Clemson and doesn't have a big arm. Be pro-active, BK! Jurkovec is the only QB who could beat an elite team. He has the tools and needs a much faster receiver corps. It's time to take the wraps off of our young speedsters. Speed kills.
What were his other offers?
ESPN lists His offers as Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, et al.
I remember Phil said that the hardest coach to say " no " to was Urban Meyer. Urban wanted him really bad.
That should tell you how highly esteemed he was by the big boys.
Also, I saw him win the PA state championship online. He was outstanding and is a true dual threat QB.
