I think he probably goes. Thoughts?

Apparently he received a draft grade of 2/3 round. There is a wide disparity in initial contract value between 1st and low 2nd / high 3rd picks.
Love has talked about what it would mean to be a team Captain at Notre Dame. The loss to Clemson has to sting. I don't know what the prospective cornerback draft class looks like for next year, but this year's is strong.
Still, he's already established himself as an elite CB. How much can he improve his draft stock next year? And there's always the risk of injury, which he must consider, particularly given his scare in the Cotton Bowl.
No idea on this one. I think it could go either way.

Hope I'm wrong.
Love my Irish! I thought we would hang with Clemson and have a chance to win in the 4th quarter. Well we could not even sniff a dam TD with a month to prepare. Bama is on different level what ever they are eating they are above the rest. Bigger stronger faster then the also rans. Just my take...
And anybody that watched it, knew he was great , when we tanked after he left. If I was him I would hit the door and never look back!
he isnt projected to be drafted till the 2nd or 3rd round?
Why did we fall apart losing one defensive back when LSU was missing 4-5 and playing Wide Receivers in their defensive secondary?
All part of the great UHND excuse making machine
LSU played a glorified mid major. ND played the second best program of the last 5 years. Tad different.
LSU got stopped by Bama, at home. No excuses, remember.
ND beat LSU about 12 months ago. No excuses, remember.
He's projected 2nd or 3rd round due to his speed. If he can run a 4.4 40 he'll go late 1st.
Whatever happened to enjoying the college experience? Once you're gone, you're gone. And the likelihood of some sort of career-altering injury is frankly miniscule. and even if it does happen, they all have an insurance policy that pays them several million dollars.

Well, I can't argue that. I always tell my nieces and nephews to make as much money as you can. This whole business of "following your passion," as I did, is sometimes very detrimental.

The risks are too great even with insurance. If you are taken in the first two rounds you will make millions. You can always go back and get your degree. Zorich and The Bus did. Like college players in golf, would Speith have gained anything to stay and graduate? How about Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Zuckerberg. Take the money when offered you might not ever get another chance.

The game?
If, and that is a big if, he has a chance of moving into the first round with one more year in college, then it might be worth it. There is an equal chance that this year might be his high point and another year in college will just expose him to both injury and/or a performance in 2019 worse than he's had in 2018.
In 2018, 6 dbs were taken. That is probably about the norm over time. Does Love, or the people who are giving him feedback, think he can get into the top 6 dbs (more likely top 4 CBs because Love doesn't really have a safety's game) with one more year in college. The issue with Love is that his size/speed points to a slot cornerback that doesn't usually transfer into being universally viewed as a top 3 /4 picks as a cb. He isn't a safety which means, at best, he would be maybe the 6th db off the board. probably in any year. He is likely a 2nd round pick this year and an outside chance of slipping into the 1st round next year. The problem is the "hot" role in the NFL is a db/lb hybrid who plays like Jabril Peppers: big enough and fast enough to take on the new breed of receiving TEs. He doesn't fit that position. There is a good chance that a pure safety as well as a db/lb hybrid with be taken as well as at least 3 cbs taken ahead of Love, both this year and next.
While the short term money is better if you are taken in the first round, you get to the real payoff a year sooner. You are also getting paid in 2019 versus waiting until 2020 to get paid. If it is an economic decision, he goes because I don't think his draft position is going to improve economically with one more year in college.

There is Bama and Clemson. I don’t know what they feed them? Maybe we will never know. But Bama looks totally different on the field. I thought we could hang with Clemson and Bama would take it to us. I was dead wrong, we couldn’t even hang with Clemson for three quarters. Love the Notre Dame but this is getting redundent .
have been the 1st time he was injured all year. That could make a big difference.
Really good CB class.
He could move up to first or even high first round next year with another solid year. Money difference is huge.
