To think Lynn Swann tried to prevent him from interviewing for head coach positions in the NFL.

Nobody wants to work there. Firing a guy after one year with a rookie qb doesn't make it a place people in the NFL want to work.

Same thing going on in reverse with Josh McDaniels. After he walked away from the Colts last year and the fact that nobody in Belichick's coaching tree has had much success (yet for the two newly minted ones), nobody wants him. Word out of GB is that he was not very "flexible." So, as is typical for guys who have been not been successful in head coaching searches, he takes himself out of the picture. I would bet that most GMs assume that he will want to run back to NE the minute Belichick retires.

Kelly's former QB coach, Matt LaFleur, apparently to be hired as Packers HC and now Arizona hires Kliff Kingsbury, TTU's recently fired HC. What? They're all looking for the new Sean McVay, I suppose.

new ideas can be successful. All of these things have long been believed to be impossible in the NFL, but in the last few years, they've been proven to be totally possible.

Also, almost every QB coming out now is spread or an athlete so the NFL needs coaches that understand how to properly use these QBs / offenses. The old school smash mouth game is out, and so are the coaches that think 3 yards and a cloud of dust mixed with solely a pocket passer is the only thing that can survive in this league.

With so many failed coaching hired out there teams are now looking for their "next-big-thing" (IE next young offensive mind). Very similar to USC hiring Pete Carrol, and colleges amped-up hiring ex NFLers until the vast majority fell flat on their face. What blows my mind is how bad they struck out on Steve Wilks (I still cannot believe he got to be an NFL head coach), then go and make this kind of jump into the unknown.
