He's also apparently had the labrum torn for a year and a half. Why wasn't this done after last season?
Not a good look for ND's medical staff.

1. When was the surgery? Was this performed between USC and Clemson?
2. I find it odd that a "one-armed Vaughn" makes for a better option than a healthy Tariq Bracy. I know Bracy is only a freshman, but still.
Where was Derrik Allen this year? It wasn't until Julian Love declared for the draft that I started to look at the depth in dbs and forgot Allen was even on the team.
Wasn't he pretty highly regarded when he signed with ND and considered a player who would see considerable action as a Freshman (especially after Shaun Crawford was injured)?
Safety was considered a weakness going into 2018, so that was part of it. Gilman lived up to billing, and Elliot really stepped up. So that's probably the biggest factor. I don't think anyone thought of Allen as a nickel option. Houston Griffith was the another freshman that people thought might get considerable playing time. He did play quite a bit, but I don't remember seeing much of him down the stretch. My belief on Bracy is that we saw a lot of him against USC partly because the staff wanted to really see what he could do . . . especially in case Vaughn wasn't 100%. He struggled some against the Trojans. Don't know if that is why he didn't play against Clemson or not.
Based on this info, it seems to align with where they started to over take him. Hopefully he comes back 100% and excels.

Love came out, he replaced him, and Lawrence went to town. Several folks here said if not for that we would have won!
Here's what i said.....
"On the first TD, Vaughn is in pretty good position - Ross just takes it off him." "The third TD, Vaughn makes a nice play - Higgins just makes a better play"
"If Love plays, and Tillery doesn't make his stupid penalty - there's a chance its 10 - 3 at half time" "I think saying they would have won is over stating things - but to say they are not in the same league as Clemson is not quite true also"
And based on the two plays - If it's Love - I don't think Ross takes it off him, and if Tillery doesn't make the penalty - they don't score whether its Vaughn or Love.
Vaughn was in good position on the first one and great position on the second one.
I think he's got a chance to be really good next year - Time will tell.
I don’t think Vaughn is why ND lost (and I don’t know anyone who thinks that). But even if it was the case, it wouldn’t mean he couldn’t blossom into a great player next year.

reasons than one or two DBs as to why ND lost. But, the DBs after Love have been underwhelming. Pride has been up and down. Vaughn and Bracey(I know he's a FR and certainly hope the PT pays dividends) had bad years. It's a very tough position but a vital one these days and you can't have weak DBs. I hope the group as a whole makes drastic upward strides for 2019.
Gilman was a stud all year but had his worst game by far. Elliot made drastic strides for the positive this season.
Stop the holier than thou bullshit

The offense's ineptitude was epic, but I could see a score of something like 17-3 or 20-10 had Love been able to stay in. It's highly questionable Clemson would have been able to pick on Love the way they did Vaughn.

I remember a few saying the game would have been closer if Love hadn’t gone out, but don’t remember anyone saying ND would have won. I might have missed them.
Funny how we forget
you give somebody the benefit of the doubt sometimes instead of being so cynical with regard to everything ND or instead of constantly building your beloved Georgia or SEC.
I have said the SEC was the best conference though not as overwhelming as many think and gave a pretty fair breakdown. I also never said to the best of my knowledge, that we would have won the game, I said that 3 momentum killing overturns might have cost us a chance or competing well or maybe pulling off the upset. I also said Clemson was a better team than us and that we would have to play a very good game versus they performing average in order for us to win.
Also now we find out that Vaughn was hurt and that may be why he struggled. Jeez.

You're turning into a regular tough guy now huh?
I don’t remember any of them claiming ND would have won if not for Vaughn. Funny how people remember what they want to, even stuff that didn’t happen.

but that the game would have been closer. Maybe I missed the post you are referring to.

People point out the completion and yardage disparity while Love was in/out and that is interpreted as "we would have won if not for Love going out". Such is life.
