Not sure about this move with Milton coming back and the backup playing pretty well.

for BW.

as BW + has more years left in their system; would you potentially divide a team to bring a new guy in for 1 year? Especially when you have a likely equal talent currently on the roster? I don't know their new guy that well but it doesn't seem that he did all that bad considering what happened. So, it doesn't seem like a big upgrade in talent?

They're in the Top 100 public universities in the U.S. and one of the very best large universities in terms of "value." No, they're not the University of Florida, but it's a solid university and one of the few remaining large public schools where you can get a quality undergraduate degree for under $20K/year and a quality graduate degree for under $22K/year.
Explain how you know that?
I don't understand why these guys (Golson, Zaire, Wimbush, and soft of Crist) don't leverage these into transfers at academic institutions. I'm not saying Ivy League schools, but places like UVa, North Carolina, Duke, UCLA--places where they can get a solid masters degree, expand the universe of supporters and have a stronger foundation even if the NFL doesn't work out.
If you think about all of the transfers into ND's basketball program, that's what they've done. I'd like to see BW and other Domers do that on the way out too. Best of luck to BW; somehow it feels like there was more potential for him than we ever saw. It just never came together for him I guess.
I hope he crushes it at UCF.
Wimbush's grad transfer is all about football. He has an accountancy degree from one of the top business schools in the country. If football is not in his future, he'll be fine. He's not going somewhere for the grad degree, but for football, and that's fine. He is pursuing his NFL dreams, not your dreams for him.
think he will ever play in the NFL? You must be smoking something.
Great guy, sharp mind......great spokesperson for ND.......not an NFL football player....
But if that's his dream, god bless him for pursuing it. My post was more about debunking the ridiculous idea that he should somehow be more focused on his graduate degree.
The ones that our guys went to after they grad transferred, have good graduate school programs (FSU, UF, KU, UCF). Once you get to grad school it becomes less about where you are, and more about what you accomplish once you're there. Employers want to see a proven track record of your accomplishments, and it's not so much about what GPA you ended up with at the end.
For example, if someone got a doctoral degree in the sciences at Harvard, but has just one publication in some truly obscure journal, then he's going to be a pretty weak candidate for a top tier job compared to the FSU grad who has a couple of mid-level publications.
There aren't a lot of strong programs overall that happen to needs a quick one year fix at QB to get to a certain level. UCLA, for one example, with Kelly only in his 2nd year is better off playing a qb who is going to be around in 2020 (and beyond) than playing a guy like Wimbush. Hurts has the same issue even if he would appear to have more cred than WImbush. That sort of limits the places Wimbush might be wanted and I assume he picked a place that suited his overall needs. Being in Florida for a year (and perhaps beyond depending on how long it takes to earn the degree he is seeming) certainly lets him thaw out after 4 years in South Bend
I would think that these 5th year transfer qbs best fit serving as a team leader and helping a new coach install a new offense ala Andrew Hendrick who followed Chuck Martin to Miami than actually helping an established coach win something in one year.
BW is leaving with a Notre Dame degree. Hopefully it serves him well in life. Maybe the one-year stop at another University is mostly about football, and not so much about pursuit of another academic degree. It's unlikely he will complete a masters degree in one semester anyway.
He isnt going to beat out Milton unless his medical issue is not recoverable. Milton is a certain NFL QB; Wimbush is far from it

ready for 2019 fall for sure.
I'm sure the staff at UCF made that point about Milton (most likely) not playing next year.
So I think BW has a legit shot to start there. And it could be a good fit.
If he plays ever again. This was a very serious injury.
The issue would be if he can beat out the qb who is their #1 for now. He already has a few games under his belt and looked pretty good, if not Milton level. All in all, I think everyone wished Wimbush good luck no matter how much more football he gets to play.
He is pursuing his dream and trying to showcase himself for the NFL.
I don't fault him for trying.
Not sure he can beat out the other guy though.....

Will be rooting for him every game..

The backup was a 51% passer for the year with a 70% game and a 60% game. Hit or miss. Nothing BW can't overcome but they still won games with the backup. Will the locker room accept a transfer over the guy that played half the year last season. I hope BW does well but it will still be an uphill climb I believe.

He played here and there during the season, but Milton didn't get injured until the USF game -- game 10. Mack had 100 pass attempts on the season, 71 of them coming in the final three games after Milton's injury. So I don't think he was so established that BW coming in as a one-year starter would really rock the boat. If Milton isn't able to play again, it might be beneficial to Mack to backup Wimbush for a season. He was a redshirt freshman in '18, I'm pretty sure. Hopefully it works out. I think it could be a good fit for BW.
It seems to be a pretty good fit, where they do put a pretty good emphasis on QB runs. I think he can beat out Darriel Mack (the backup to Milton), given that their accuracy levels are comparable.
I highly doubt McKenzie Milton is going to be available in 2019, given how gruesome that injury was.
Best wishes to him, and I hope he puts on a fantastic show.
Ditto
still more surgeries to come...

I was merely talking to why this move makes sense for Wimbush...which it does.
If he plays again, it won't be sooner than 2020. I don't know much about Milton's backup. Doesn't seem like he played too much before the injury. Wimbush as a one-year stop gap makes sense.
Didnt realize it was that significant....the backup looked pretty good in 2-3 games.....
