Jenkins pussed out again, just like when he invited the most aggressively pro-abort president in history, Obama, to speak to us. Obama couldn't keep the shit-eating grin off his face the whole day, chortling at how stupid ND was. It was really fun to watch. As for the murals, did they also include pictures of Native American human sacrifice? How about Native American genocidal warfare? Or just some poses that some people claimed to find offensive?
If you have a business, you didn't build it... Obama.... Complete failure for 8 years....
Let he who is without sin...

Isn’t this the football board?
......first, it’s just mean to pick on a guy with that name. Hasn’t he suffered enough already?
Second, I think Jenkins should be considerate for the safety of the indigenous population of Ohio since couch burning always seems like a smart way to express frustration after a couple of 24 oz Nattiy’s, but they can actually be kind of dangerous.
“Whatever else Columbus’s arrival brought, for these peoples it led to exploitation, expropriation of land, repression of vibrant cultures, enslavement, and new diseases causing epidemics that killed millions,”
There is nothing inaccurate in this sentence. Straightforward fact.
Anyone who has studied history knows that Christopher Columbus was a genocidal maniac. This is not opinion This is historical fact. So why is this a big deal? Why would anyone get upset by getting rid of a picture of a dickhead? Nothing about the story of Columbus aligns with the mission/message of Christ. Zilch. And we're supposed to be upset by this? Talk about a "non-story." Jimmy cracked corn.
I don't agree with the characterization of Pre-Columbian America as some utopia that would have continued to be a utopia if Columbus hadn't have "discovered" it (vikings were here first, aside from the natives that actually discovered it). The natives slaughtered each other as well and fought over territory and natural resources. But, Notre Dame as a Catholic institution should honor traditional christian heroes over people like Columbus who did do some awful, unchristian things. I don't really have a problem with covering the mural, as long as the history books and history teaching remain complete and accurate.
look up on google Columbus's log for his first trip if you want acracy. Columbus had nothing but praise for the indigenous peoples. It was on the second trip that he saw them in a different way because he left shipmates on the islands and turned up all dead. Read the logs yourself.
And conversely, what is a non-vibrant one?
PC nonsense. If you want to historically accurate, then let’s include the Native American practices of human sacrifice, cannibalism, and wars of conquest.

The Columbus murals will be replaced by murals of Custer's Last Stand--scalpings and mutilations included.

WTF, would you let the current classes make the decision? Those murals belong to the entire alumni base. Any vote excluding the Alumni is BS. If they do get removed, i sure hope they are preserved. Maybe future classes with more sense could bring them back.

The membership in the Catholic Church in name only let’s throw them under the bus after they built the multitude. Let the church donate all the church’s and land back to the idegenious people to cleanse their souls.
Pope couldn't have promoted his pedo boyfriend to the Vatican Curia if catholics hadn't donated the money. Motherfuckin Spainiards should have stayed home and not pillaged the new world...

What would MLK do?
and that's all ND really wants -- to protect the children, be they chronological or emotional.
Yup...the give up generation that is selectively offended......
