The jenks and jacko show has not justified the massive outlay of cash, as The Irish fans have become more like French Aristocrats.

Every year the grass became a slip fest as soon as November hit. The games were almost unwatchable.

some stupid internet outlet.
The wallethub red herring was facetious.
The more serious issue of unbridled spending was not.
You decided to frame the issue in terms of “return on investment,” and you decided to set “improvement of fan intensity” as gauged by the stupid site as the measure. You were rightly ridiculed and downvoted, so you pivoted and pretended you were just making ripperduck’s point all along. Which of course, you weren’t. You could easily have just started a thread questioning the spending if that was your intent. I’m not arguing that the project is or isn’t a net positive.
The wallethub rankings may be farcical indeed. But no less farcical than the pollyannas who claimed Turf, Tron and Crossroads were ND must haves to improve the football program, and the Quality of Campus Life.
If you won't argue either way, then sit this one out and enjoy the absurd rage of the down-voters.
As far as I know, nobody did. I’m not taking a position on whether it is a net positive or not because the project just completed, and there really isn’t anyway to meaningfully access its ultimate value. Trying to determine ROI immediately is impossible. That will come into focus over time. But even then, it won’t be reasonably measured by some internet site’s take on “improved fan intensity.” And opinions will likely vary. I don’t see Pollyanna posts here. I see people claiming correctly that your original post was foolish.
And I was using wallethub survey as prima facie evidence of the failure to intensify fans.
Never read Swift. You’ll be convinced he’s mad.

A wallethub ranking disses ND. I lightheartedly, but pointedly suggest it proves the ROI on Crossroads isn't there.
The usual down-voters flip out, joined by those whose feathers are ruffled everytime ND is remotely criticized or questioned.
A couple of solid responses examining the questionable expansion financing at ND and elsewhere.
The rest is hysterical angst.

Bryant Denny Stadium is taking out seats in order to put in a Adzilitron. That's in order to make up for the lost revenue. ND's problem, as with all P5 programs, is the massive debt they've taken on for a building that's empty over 90% of the time. Doing so larded up the balance sheet with a liability that never made financial sense. If it did, then why not just use endowment money rather than borrow from Wall Street bond palaces?
Most would rather down-vote and bury their head in the sand.
if anyone thinks that's not true, then research what's taking place with cal's football/athletic performance buildout and oklahoma. ou's president stated in july that his institution has a billion in debt that he can't pay, primarily because all those new building that were created mainly under the boren regime cannot pay for themselves. that's with an athletic department that makes enough money it kicks back millions to the academic side.
cal is a total fiasco. they decided that they would use financing for their athletic facilities that would take nearly a century to pay off. the football team doesn't sell well enough to get asses in seats, and the academic side is being used to make up the financial shortfall.
in both cases, the notion that a high profile football team was more important than maintaining the academic efficacy of the university. i hope that isn't going to happen with nd, but the crossroads had no academic purpose, and was done to enhance the marketing of the nd football. if attendance trends continue, even with the occasional concert/hockey game, then it will be a really bad deciscion. hope not, but no of us should be optimistic....
And it is right to point out that some other universities are in the same boat.
IMHO, ND does not NEED the Crossroads enhancements. They justify Jenks' massive ego as the masterbuilder of the Utopian University.
At some point the build and gild mentality has got to be reigned in. Hopefully in our lifetime.
Thanks for the honest and intelligent response.

Wallethub is irrelevant. Just as the website that named Rees QB COY.
I have yet to see my credible source justify the effect of Turf, Tron and Crossroads.

It wasn't meant to be a football only proposition. For example, you have the Winter Classic, the Garth Brooks concert, the student life facility enhancements, added academic facilities etc. I'm sure we will see tractor pulls and motocross there soon.
The jumbo was just a toy for a more modern facility.
And as long as these clowns continue to gouge fans on ticket prices (highest in college football for seasonal buy in?), you will see more and more empty seats and fewer and fewer enthusiastic fans.

Below is the matrix used, not being in a conference is counted against Notre Dame, hell Columbus is ranked 137 in college football. Seems to me that there is some issues on the matrix used. Pittsburgh is ranked 13th for college and Evanston is 78th? Not so sure I buy this matrix.
College Football – Total Points = 25
Number of College Football (FBS & FCS) Teams: Full Weight (~3.57 Points)
Performance Level of College Football (FBS & FCS) Team(s): Full Weight (~3.57 Points)
Note: This metric was calculated using the past three seasons’ averages and the following formula: Number of Wins / Total Number of Games Played.
Number of College Football (FBS & FCS) Championship Wins: Full Weight (~3.57 Points)
Number of College Football (FBS & FCS) Conference Championship Wins: Half Weight (~1.79 Points)
Number of Hall-of-Fame Head Coaches: Half Weight (~1.79 Points)
Minimum Season-Ticket Price for College Football (FBS & FCS) Game: Full Weight (~3.57 Points)
College Football Fan Engagement: Full Weight (~3.57 Points)
Note: This metric measures the number of Twitter followers and Facebook “Likes” (on each team’s official accounts) per capita.
Number of Coaches in Past 10 Seasons: Half Weight (~1.79 Points)
Note: “Past 10 Seasons” include seasons 2009–2010 to 2018–2019.
College Football (FBS & FCS) Stadium Capacity: Half Weight (~1.79 Points)
Note: This metric was calculated using the following formula: Stadium Capacity / Total City Population.
That's the only reason.

But it begs the question: How has Turf and Tron at The Crossroads shown any ROI?
Reasonable people may disagree.

Yet provide no effective counterpoint to the Turf and Tron at Crossroads ROI. Not even a worthless website can support that.
