For the most part, the 1st rounders are who they are. With some exceptions that will rise or fall.
But, Mack was a highly recruited HS player that has freakish athletic ability and showed some flashes of potential during his time at ND. It's a chance for him to show off that potential. He will be drafted on that alone.

Alize Mack is an impressive athlete, and always had that "amazing potential" label on him, which was why it didn't seem surprising at all.
On a side note, one's potential can go a very long way. Jerome Collins got invited to the NFL Combine back in 2005, even getting drafted in the 5th round, despite having about a half dozen catches during his senior year (and none before that in his entire time).
not sure he even took a snap in his ND days. He was 3rd string behind them.
8 for 14 for his career...Not too shabby, probably would have been half decent, if not behind Hanratty and O'Brien..Playing time was tough to come by for anyone, behind two guys of that stature..Im not quite sure who my favorite ND QB all time is, but Terry Hanratty is right up there....
never got much of a chance with the Steelers after Bradshaw got there. The fans in Pittsburgh loved him and I remember one sign in the stands that said Terry number 2 we still want you. Joe Theismann was the best however. Absolutely superb leader one of the strongest arms that even OJ who hated ND guys, on Monday night football said was a gun. Plus he had great, great escapability. After that Clements was solid and respected as a quiet leader but I think Book has more ability. Everyone forgets Steve Beuerlein who had a decent pro career even though he was blackballed by renowned ND hater, Al Davis. Troy Aikman often said there was absolutely no drop off between he and Steve Beuerlein. He was not real mobile but was tough and had a very accurate arm. Clausen was absolutely the most accurate passer ND had IMO. Jarious Jackson was a great athlete, tough as nails and was a pretty solid passer with good running ability. Powlus was not bad despite lack of mobility and who knows how his career would have gone if ND did not lose to Michigan in 1994 on a last second field goal after Lee Becton lost two fumbles in that game. Mirer was very talented and had a long though not brilliant career in the NFL that might have been better had he not lost his coaching mentor in the pros after a top three finish in the offensive rookie of the year his first year.
I know I am forgetting somebody.
I thought Mustipher was overrated and I had said it consistently. However, not even I thought he would not be invited to combine.
I know that Bonner's stats dropped off when he moved from DT to NT, since it's less prolific, but I'm sure the scouts would have seen his being a pretty effective force at the LOS.
As for Mustipher, I'm even more surprised. He's been a solid starter for mulltiple years, and was pretty effective against some of the better DT's.
