For years, it seemed like Brian Kelly was at ND on the way to something else. I'm not sure what has changed (he said he likes the "coach-centric model of college football"), but I think it's great that he seems so comfortable in his situation at ND. With that comfort, he can build for the long-term by providing incoming athletes with a lot of predictability, as he'll be steering the ship.
I'm sure he still gets angrier than a hornet from time to time (and can see the shortcomings of his players), but he also seems more likely to tell you what a player did correctly than to publicly flay the kid. He seems more modest, more comfortable that ending a career with 15 years rebuilding ND isn't so bad for a linebacker from Assumption College.
Good for him. Now, screw all that and go win a Natty.
