Instead of being unhappy at a school or stuck with poor coaching/system/depth chart/talent fit based on a decision made as a 17th year old high schooler, kids can now make a more informed choice of where they want to be.
And at ND, you have the additional task of actually being a real student.
For the kids it is probably a good thing.

A walk on was getting more reps this spring than he was, so I think he saw the “writing on the wall”. We also have a couple good corners coming in from the 2019 recruiting class.
Notre Dame struck out at corner in 2017. They signed five in 2018, however Wilkins and Brown play other positions now, and Boykin is gone. That leaves Bracy and Griffith. Two corners in two cycles, with the haul this year bringing it to four in three cycles. They can't afford to miss with either Rutherford or Wallace. Not a great situation depth wise. You are right to point out Agoro for this season though. He looked pretty good and by accounts did all spring.
I'm not counting on anything from Davis in 2019, but Boykin wasn't going to play in 2019 either. Hopefully by 2020 Davis will be ready to be a contributor. And I believe Shawn Crawford could technically play in 2020 as well?
and I’m not sure what you mean by “missing with Rutherford and Wallace”. They’re coming aboard this summer.
