Well, last night's opener was another Brian Kelly Special... team looked totally unprepared, flat, at times bewildered and confused,
predictable play calling, mediocre execution, abysmal tackling, no pep, no fight, no speed.
We should have had Louisville steamrolled and demoralized by the end of the first quarter. But no... not a Kelly coached team.
When will Kelly ever realize that an opposing team's record doesn't matter, and there is no such thing as an "easy win?"
No matter how bad an opposing team's past record is they all are going to play their best against Notre Dame, and a
good coach prepares his team accordingly.
GOOD coaches make sure their teams are prepared for every eventuality. BAD coaches (like Kelly) have no clue how to prepare a team.
The 2012 and 2018 playoff games showed us all how Kelly is incapable of preparing a team to win.
How much longer do we have to suffer watching a great football program underperforming because of this Kelly moron?

Although we've had our disappointments under Kelly coached teams, his record is stellar compared with the 13 years we suffered under Davie, Willingham and Weis. While Kelly's winning percentage at .701 pales in comparison with Rockne, Leahy, Ara, Devine, and Lou, let's remember Davie, Willngham and Weis had a combined winning percentage of .575, which translates to less than 7 wins a year in a 12 game schedule.
Yet, has he once fielded a truly elite top five team? I would argue no.
So the question is whether just decent or good is good enough.
However, I think he's fielded a top 5 caliber team, he just can't coach a top 5 caliber team to victory.

drivel. You must be in so much pain after that "HORRIBLE" Irish win last night. Here's an idea, stop watching ND Football
and go watch a team that is equally as miserable as you are.
A badly prepared coach wouldn't have gotten us to those championship / playoff games. Sometimes, the other team is simply that much better.
Brian Kelly has proven to be a good coach, regardless of the lack of gratitude displayed by the OP. The fact that he's put forth four excellent seasons (2012, 2015, 2017, and 2018), along with a good season (2013, where I doubt anyone would have done any better), shows that he belongs among that echelon.
Did he make some boneheaded mistakes along the way? Of course he did. There were several dumb things that he did, such as letting Malik Zaire play in 2016 (cost us at least two games), hiring Brian Van Gorder (cost us a lot more), etc.
That can happen to any coach, though, no matter how good he may be. Even Lou Holtz had his fair share of dumb mistakes along the way, with that 1991 Tennessee game being one of the more painful memories (stopped running the ball in the 2nd half, even though we were crushing them).
Now, that being said, I do agree with the OP that the team looked flat, and that it should have been a 30+ point blowout. However, when your team is playing out of rhythm, looking flat, etc., and you can still snag an 18 point win, then that should speak volumes about the coach.
MORON!
He's not a bad coach, far from it at 82-35 He's a good coach, but not a great one..and he's certainly not a moron..Get a grip..and a clue..
