ND is 24-4 in there last 28 games.
Home loss to AP #2 UGA
At AP #13 Miami
At AP #20 Stanford
Neutral #1 Clemson
Ian Book has 1 loss as a starter.
But I know the sky is falling after an 18 point road win vs a power 5 team and a 50 point win.
ND has a lot to work on and likely gets beat Saturday but count me in one of the "Homers" that is excited for the opportunity. Hopefully ND and Kelly break through with a huge win.
However, if ND wins, will it be a huge win? Because I'm thinking that will mean they were overrated. Right?
Front seven can not get off blocks and their is no penetration by the DL. LBs are horrible. UGA needs a sliver of a hole and they will be gone. Tackling has been terrible and they have better Athletes than ND, someone who doesn’t have a life please post the recruiting class rankings from UGA and ND over the last 5 years.
Prediction is the only reason we are #7 is so that when UGA puts a beat down on us that will only help the powerful SEC and CFB playoff committee can write off ND in week 3. Kelly needs to understand that if ND continually goes into big games and gets the shit beat out of us we will continue the stigma off being labeled and over rated team. The last big win I can remember where ND really surprised me on the road was 2012 when they went into Norman and won. Every ‘big showdown” since then Kelly has had his ass handed to him, especially away from home. This will be no different. As painful as this is to say, ND-17, UGA - 38.
One other comment, why the hell is Kelly giving reps to the 3rd string QB when Phil should be getting all the reps he can and should have played with the starters for at least the 3Q this past week! If Book gets knocked out of a game and Phil needs to come in, point to the 2nd game of more wasted opportunities. This is what separates Saban from Kelly, along with continual neglect of the importance of special teams.
Flutie commented on it during the game.
college football is played by a bunch of 20 year old kids with more emotion than skill and judgement. About half the games exhibit at least some degree of unanticipated struggle by the favored team because of this. ND usually puts a great struggle against favored teams. Any outcome is possible in Athens, with some kind of Ga. victory having a high probability....but.......

. . . of the occasional bed shitting too. Like last year’s 20 point loss to LSU and the 40-17 beating from Auburn the year before. He is a great recruiter, but I don’t think he’s that great a game coach. Still, I’m thinking Georgia by 17 right now. That team is loaded and they have proven they can play with anyone.

good on you. I’m just not going to lie and say I have that confidence. The running game and the QB alone are huge issues in my mind.
However, no one here doesn’t want the Irish to pull it off. I will be ecstatic to be wrong. I’m just not seeing it.
You also raise an interesting point about UGA. We assume they are elite because of their talent level and record the last two years. But you really don’t know until the end of the year.
Bottom line, what though the odds....go Irish.
You can’t field a team against top talent with no chance. You need to just compete. Except the UGA one point loss at home with a QB that never started a game, the others were embarrassing.

They're were geeked outta their minds for that game. From the mid 80s on, Miami has always been a rough place to play for Da Irish. Not a surprise they got beat, that was the prime time for the Canes to have pulled it off...,
Just so it's not a 30-3 whuppin'.
