Listened to the Pod of Gold Extra Point podcast from yesterday on my drive to work today. Is there any news on what Lenzy’s “beyond frustrated” tweet after practice is referring to?

Seems to be a personal matter according to my sources.

We must have different sources. Oh plus whenever somebody mentions something about "touches" things go downhill.

Jock itch is a very personal matter, so maybe your sources are on the same page.

Maybe he's frustrated with all the media hype predicting an ND loss and fans assuming the team will get a beat down in GA.

He should be playing ahead of Fink. Remember how Kelly loved Joe Schmidt? We need Lenzy.

Unfortunately, Kelly has a huge ego, and this is worrisome going forward.

Oh my God!!!! Lenzy should be playing ahead of Finke? Beyond ridiculous.

Kelly puts the players on the field that he thinks can help the team win. Period.

All coaches have massive egos. But despite the conspiracy theorists on this board (and I assume NDN), I have never seen any evidence that he plays favorites.

If Lenzy does not play, that is because he is not as good as Finke.

As to the tweet: Not everything is football-related.

Sometimes - in fact, I'd venture more than sometimes - coaches do not accurately judge who the best player at a certain position may be. As another poster said, Kelly has a list of "traits" that players need to tick off before they can play. Maybe his "trait" list doesn't always accurately identify who will play the best in games.

We need our best athletes against Ga to win, I don’t care who plays against Wake Forest.

Kelly does have a history of favoring the guys with his “traits” over talent ...... this goes back to his GVSU days. You know I am not a Kelly hater btw.

If it was just about "best athletes," Wimbush would still be ND's QB.

Finke has been a productive player. We don't know what Lenzy can do yet.

I reject the "Lenzy is fast, so he must be a better football player than Finke right now at this point in their respective careers" logic. Finke is the second-leading returning receiver behind Claypool. And let's not forget that we maybe don't beat Michigan last year without Finke making a sensational play. Plus it isn't like ND won't play young players. Keys was returning kicks and was on the field for the first snap last week. Hamilton is in the thick of it out of the gate. I sincerely doubt Lenzy's "frustration" was because he is playing behind a 5th year SR team captain. I was happy to see Lenzy on the field last week. I've been high on him since recruiting. Hope he's a star before it is said and done. But there is no controversy on this at this point.

Finke couldn't get open against Clemson, only catching two passes. Lenzy caught one against UNM.

Lenzy needs to see the field more. He shouldn't start over Finke, but he's a dangerous player who needs to touch the ball and appears to have big play ability that Finke lacks.

I'd like to see Lenzy with the ball in his hands.

The specifics of my comment were directed at the claim that Lenzy is currently more capable of "getting open" as opposed to Finke. I'm a huge believer in Lenzy, though. I was as excited about his commitment as any on offense in recruiting. Hope he becomes a real playmaker.
