"Kelly mentioned this week how he wanted to see a certain stubbornness from his staff this week. He expounded upon this today. He wanted his coaches to stick with the game plan they had developed during the week and not abandon it early out of frustration."
Now we know why ND annually was good for 2 to 3 losses per season prior to Kelly 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5. Those losses were always solely the fault of Kelly's poor coaching or decisions. It also proves whey Kelly in his tenure has been terrible at making adjustments. Because he basically doesn't believe in it.
This mentality makes no sense. If the brick wall doesn't break. Just keep banging your head on it. It can't be you that has the wrong idea.

with powerful determination, yet possesses pretty good speed and a decent amount of wiggle. I liked him the first time he got extended action this year even though he was not gaining much you could see he was fast and finished his runs very strongly.
great job bringing ND back, but if he wasn't so hell-bent on his stubborn way, ND would be A LOT further along. Maybe consistently in the top 5 the last 5 years or more. Talent has been at ND for quite a while, but coaching has been lacking. Kelly has squandered A LOT of talent in his tenure. A LOT.
If we compare the talent of players to talent they play against, then we should also compare the talent of our coaches to that of the coaches they coach against. For a number of years, our coaching decisions have been inferior to that of our opponents. More so than the talent gap between the players on the field.
To be consistently good, we are going to need a lot more from our coaches. Less so at this point than our players.
in the upper 80th percentile but not quite with the big boys yet. I actually used to like his play calling ability and he was recognized at being good at it by the TV announcers. But yes, I felt like we had an edge on everybody with Lou, who disappointed me only in his coaching against Penn State and Tennessee, but seemed better than the other coaches each and every other game. Except Texas A & M in 1987 bowl game. At least with have common agreement on many things and you make a lot of sense to me often. Enjoy your comments.

bulldozers like Bettis and not speed merchants like Rocket. Somewhat of a cross breed. That be C’bo. Someone in the 5’9” to 5’11” range weighing 170-180 and gets the yardage you need when you need it.
