Let's face it folks, there is no chance ND will make the final four this year.
It could have happened had ND had beat Georgia. ND is a good team but
clearly not an elite team. Any thoughts to the contrary is wishful thinking.

WEAK ASS SHIT!
First of all, we're putting the cart before the horse..First of all, as usual USC has the talent to beat ND, with a week off, and revenge on mind, a very formidable foe..and the ones moaning the weakness of schedule notwithstanding, UM in Ann Arbor will be very difficult to beat, just look at recent history of games played there between the 2..Id say if ND wins these 2 impressively, they get catapulted into the conversation...then run the table concluding with Stanford on road, who just beat Washington, yes there is a chance..then its in hands of committee, with results of conference play a huge factor..Pac 12 champ is already out..
If Georgia is elite, so are we.Our coach is not elite, he is elitest.
It's slim, but it could happen.
ND will need some help, other teams must lose, but the only thing they can control is that they keep winning and getting better.

Why can't someone voice a dissenting opinion on here? Clearly others agree. It's not all him and you know it
You really think we are elite? You really think we will make CFP?
We are not elite, not with Book as QB and no running game. We have an outside shot at CFP if we win out and win out big.
He is stating his opinion. Give it a rest.

particularly offensively.
Georgia, etc. I’m not saying the offense doesn’t need work. It does. My point is that most of us have the view as an insider up and close. It might not look so bad when someone is viewing it with a broader lense.
It is only remotely possible as it is and it will takes an unexpected combination of game results for ND to even get a peek.
ND needs a signature win and it just isn't on the schedule. In the end, the "quality" loss likely isn't going to mean anything.
...beat ND. (Presuming that ND wins out in convincing fashion against all remaining opponents.)
Note: I do not expect that to happen...but that is a scenario which exists at the moment.
Based on the play so far, it is looking probable that there will be 2 SEC teams in. We could run through all the scenarios, but it is looking increasingly likely that there will be more than one quality 1-loss team out there. Couple that with ND's absence of a "signature" win and our appearance last year, the committee will fall back on any (and all) one loss conference champs while implicitly allowing that ND had a chance last year.
Normally a schedule of Georgia, USC, Michigan and Stanford would be a good enough heft to get us in the room but this year it ain't going to be enough.
A one loss ND is a hard sell unless lots of things happen. We dont play a conference championship and yet we have a loss.
Alabama and Georgia both go 12-0, and then one loses in the SEC Champiohsnip.....they obviously will deserve it before we do
If LSU keeps playing well and only has one loss to Alabama they could make it with one loss before we do.....
OSU will likely go undefeated and beat up on Michigan like we will......
Clemson will go undefeated and beat us out
Certainly it can happen, and we should win the rest of our games against a decidedly weak schedule.....but that weak schedule is going to yield no big wins
We were the #3 seed - I guess that's 'barely' in your book. Also, there were 3 undefeated teams entering the playoffs, which is unusual. Normally there is just one.
Essentially the 1/2 choice and 3/ 4 choice are interchangeable and really don't mean much re: "ranking" the teams. ND really was the last team in, not Oklahoma. While I would agree that ND didn't sneak in, ND didn't get to be #3 strictly on it's merits.
Both Oklahoma and OSU were being sent a message by the committee. The committee had cover for their choices in that ND was 12-0 but nobody thought ND was better than OSU or Oklahoma which is what the committee says it is trying to do.
OSU was really being "punished" for the pathetic antics under Meyer. These guys knew what the story line was going to be with OSU in and they didn't what that crap polluting their big show. And since Gene Smith was caught up in the crap, it was hard for him to advocate on behalf of his school/conference. Despite a general disdain for ND in many parts of of the country, there were few squawks outside certain parts of the Mideast/Midwest when OSU was not selected.
Oklahoma, and the Big 12, was put on notice about their schedules. The committee didn't want to "reward" Oklahoma by sending them to what would have been a home game in Dallas.
once again ask folks not associated with a homer ND board whether they thought ND was one of the best 4 teams last year. You will not get many votes.
Then we shit the bed and basically proved them right.
We went 12-0 against an average schedule and when we finally played a good team got our ass handed to us
So yes, our performance in my mind (since I am entitled to an opinion contrary to the moronic homers on this board) we are not a top tier team. We are a second tier 6-10 team.
With Ian Book as our QB, we will never be a top tier team. That is extremely obvious to me and most of America and to several others on this board
Get over it. I dont agree with you.
That was probably inevitable. LOL. ND lost to the Champ by less than Bama did. Whether ND deserved to be in the top four is absolutely a matter of opinion. Claiming ND “proved it wasn’t one of the top four teams” isn’t a matter of opinion. It’s an admission of bias. You usually start in the right area but are so determined to shout down perceived homerism you often end up looking foolish. This is one of those times. It’s a shame too. You are a good poster when you aren’t completely off the rails with your anti-homer agenda. I agree with you, btw, that ND is not an elite program. Between 6-10 seems right.
This is an internet blog....trust me I dont take it too seriously like so many on here do. I just have a tough time with the homers.
And I think your overall perspective is more than fair. But you either don’t see or don’t care that you frequently come off as bad as the homers you take on. Just the other side of the coin. The only reason I comment on it is that unlike many of the homers, you clearly are capable of better.
In your eternal zest to be the board’s anti-homer sheriff you say some silly things sometimes.

Discussed on various platforms from Sirius, national Sports radio networks and some ND sites.
I really don't care what you believe or don't believe. Sorry if common sense explanations get in the way of your private narrative.
done deal at this stage of the season. I agree ND is not an elite team.
1) We win out.
2) Georgia wins out.
3) The Big 12 and Pac 12 champs both have at least two loses. I think that's almost a given for the Pac 12 champ. It's more uncertain for the Big 12 champ. Texas upsetting Oklahoma this weekend would be a good start!
That said, I agree with your main point. We're not elite. We're very good but not elite. We're a couple NFL-caliber receivers - who can stretch the field - away from being elite.
