There is increasing chatter...again...about BK being a possible head coach in the NFL. I'm guessing he's behind guys like Lincoln Riley (who won't leave) and Matt Ruhle. If he does walk, who do you have as your preferred 'next'? I'm not saying who would come, but if you could get anyone who would you want. My top 5:
1. Urban Meyer
2. Matt Campbell
3. Matt Ruhle
4. James Franklin
5. Bob Stoops
Big Game Bob, baby. He would come back!

knows how to recruit kids even to a high-academic, cold weather school. I don't see an Area or a Lou, but Campbell, Rhule and PJ Fleck come closest to meeting the criteria as best I can see among realistic candidates. It will be interesting to see how Fleck's Gophers hold up against Nebraska this week.
Yes it’s early but that golden rule might not be as golden as it once was.
Just nobody from high school or guys who’s experience is exclusively NFL, please.

And if you have a thing for Canadians, there are a lot hotter looking than Shania.
But Biebs is already taken.
I have a thing for insanely beautiful women with killer bods. Plus she's my age, so I think I'd have a shot.
current best hope.
at Nebraska, and the Gophers are undefeated but have been barely escaping against middling competition, and the competition is getting tougher as you enter conference play, and one or the other program (Nebr. or Minn.) has an opportunity to gain an upper hand, and Fleck is trying to teach his team how to be winners ... as one who is watching Fleck's career and wondering if he could be a good coach for us someday, I find this weekend's match-up interesting.
When Holtz was at Minnesota in the early "80s, he took over a program that had gone winless and got buried by a dominant Husker team 84-13. Lou took them to a 6-5 record after instilling a culture of winning, and saying things like, "We will recruit the heart and soul of this team from Minnesota, but we may have to go elsewhere for the arms and legs." The situation Fleck took over wasn't as bad as what Holtz faced there, but taking a less successful Power 5 program to a higher level of achievement shows a coach may be able to handle a pressure-cooker like ND.

I doubt Brian Kelly is entertaining making the jump to the pros. He has zero pro experience to his name and finally has the ND program at a pretty good level.
In terms of the people on your list, you can forget about Stoops or Meyer ever considering the position here. Neither of them would accept a position as a head coach, unless they were given total control over the program. That will never happen at ND, since the Board of Trustees would never allow it. The same would go for someone like Nick Saban.
Matt Rhule hasn't really shown anything significant, except for a nice 5-0 start to this season. His previous time at Temple isn't exactly that enthralling either.
Matt Campbell is in a similar boat., His best showing at Iowa State is rather mediocre, with a couple of 8-5 seasons.
James Franklin isn't leaving Penn State. He's happy where he is.
I specifically noted not to consider if they'd come, and yet your response was largely about who would come.

He is cutting his teeth as an OC and should be ready for the big stage soon.

Well, it's been on an ESPN Pod earlier this week; it was mentioned on Move the Sticks with Daniel Jeremiah; and it's discussed again today on the attached Cowherd session.
I really don't understand why there is the need to be such an angry dude. Chill out, bro.

click bait that so many people fall for. I've been listening on and off today to the likes of ESPN (who hates ND as you know), CBSSPORTS, and about 7
other ND sites---all without a sniff of this conjecture. Leads me to believe, logically I believe, that there's not much traction to this tripe at all---per usual.
I've had three Woodford's so far this evening---I'm as chill as they get!
