ND was supposed to get dominated by Michigan according to the so called experts. This was shortly after "Under the Tarnished Dome" was released & people though that tabloid-like book would cause distraction for Lou & the team. It had to opposite effect as it brought the team together.
#2- Jarious Jackson's 35 yard TD pass to Raki Nelson in 1998. Again, the "experts" said Michigan would destroy ND due to an awful 1997 season & the fact Michigan was the co-National Champions in 1997.
ND again proved the haters wrong.

KO returned before and stubbornly insisted on kicking to him again not believing such a thing could be anything other than a fluke.

Michigan coming off a NC, Tom Brady, the crowd was nearly as loud as I have ever seen. Just a great day all around.

was very underrated.

Wayne the Train Bullock wasn't too bad either, Vegas Ferguson, Nick Eddy on that '64 team ..As for backfields, tough to top that Bullock, Penick, Best backfield..Plus Bettis, Brooks..
When I was a kid, Pinkett was my first ND hero.

Rockets two returns for tds
To beat them in a thriller in our last National Championship year with four field goals by a 135 lb, premed, Asian descendant, walk on Rudy, who mocks them with his backward strut and twirling fingers!!!!!!! It was never a better moment in this series.

Gardner was never the same after that game. It's as if Redfield's hit against him emptied out all of that mojo he had the year before (when he torched us).

rules where you could use your teammate to get up that high. I hate field goals unless we win with them.
He actually propelled himself by jumping off the back of the Michigan center, not his teammate. Makes the story even better!

and Rocket's two kickoff returns in AA to win that no.1 vs 2 battle certainly has to rank high, but I will always have Reggie Ho's 4 FGs including the game winner at the top or tied with OLiver, as it won the opener 19-17 in 1988 AND propelled the Irish to the national title
field goal when 51 yard field goals were almost never even attempted. We got a huge break in that game on the interference call on Tony Hunter.
you don't get that call in Ann Arbor ..But maybe Armando Allen doesnt get that ssshhh penalty in South Bend either
We had UM fans sitting next to us, somewhat conversant during the game..As the refs arms upraised to signal Harry's FG was good, they departed without a nice talking to ya, goodbye, congrats or anything the look on their faces was PRICELESS1!
