Glad they won but terrible game. Should have been a 3 touchdown win. VT is terrible.

That game completely sucked. A ranked team would have made it two weeks in a row.
In short: you guys lack perspective, both comtemporary and historical. That's why you're reduced to emoting, devoid of much rational analysis.
Please also enlighten on the missing contemporary and historical perspective. You may want to pay particular attention to the ten years of Kelly.
ND has had four undefeated regular seasons in 45 years, by my count. Kelly has two of them. Only two completely undefeated seasons for ND over that stretch, overall. Seasons and seasons of mediocre to poor football over the past 39. No more stacked Catholic leagues from which to mine players. ND as the dream school for most recruits disappeared long ago. Comparatively low salary for the HC gig and, yes, the coaches at the programs who make $3 million more in base salary also have generous compensation in other ways, too. Rejection after rejection by big-name, proven coaches the past twenty years. Numerous poor hires over the past 70 years. Shall I go on?
teams he faced. Not historically ND. I don’t expect ND will be a dominant year in and out top 5 team. I do expect that we don’t get embarrassed every time we play a good or better team in front of a national audience. I also expect that we win a major bowl just occasionally. I don’t expect that we lose 4 games every year on average, with the 8 wins being against crappy or mediocre teams. Give me one elite team that he has beaten in ten years other than OK in 2012.
If we can’t get a replacement t to achieve at least his level of “elite”play, start playing the Ivy League.
Personally I’m fed up watching his smug ass get out coached every week, shit out wins over lousy or mediocre teams, and get embarrassed on the national stage. Time to go Brian.
And like most, you don't have much of a memory. People here exalt Lou and forget how bad the last three seasons were under him and many of the problems he exacerbated, along with lackluster recruiting. Or was it more that college football changed? Probably more the latter.
ND has not gotten embarrassed each time it has played a good or better team on national TV, which you know, even with a short memory. You're just emoting.
They threw the baby out with the bathwater though.
Seriously give me one big game that Kelly has won in ten years other then the 2012 OK game over a top team. Or one big bowl victory. His act has worn thin.
You'll get no argument from me about Kelly's lackluster record in games at ND. However, he has had some nice wins, like the wins over Michigan and Syracuse last year, which turned out to be wins against eventual top 15 teams. Wait until you bring in one of the 7-5/8-5 coaches from lesser programs. You'll be waxing poetic about wins over top 15 teams. They're not bringing in Urban. They won't get Stoops. They won't even get what's-his-name from TCU.
He almost never wins a big game, routinely gets embarrassed on the national stage and averages 4 losses a year.
At some point it becomes enough even with the risks of bringing someone else in. This game did it for me. I can’t see another 4- 5 years of this guy.
Have you been complaining like this all that time? Chances are it won't change much. The game and college landscape have changed. It's pretty tough to compete for top 10 rankings every year when you still maintain academic standards. Notice how Stanford also struggles like this? I've said for years that I wish ND would create a conference with Stanford, NU, Duke, Vandy, the Service Academies, GA Tech, Wake Forest and just embrace not being a football factory. I'd fall on my knees, especially if they'd hire an option coach, like the Navy HC. I'd look forward to ND football again versus what has happened to my interest over the past 20 years, as the writing has increasingly been on the wall, that this is larger than making the wrong hires.
You guys expect ND to be beating top 10 teams at least half the time, right? Upon what do you base that expectation? Memories of Ara? 1988-1993? Even that period is worlds ago in terms of how college football has changed. Particularly in this age, how many standout high school football players want to go to a school where they're told, upfront, that they will have to work hard in the classroom, go to all their classes, and take legitimate classes, at that? And all this at a time when they're told they're being exploited by their mass'rs and should be paid for their athletic performances.
