It's really a shame to see the kind of talent that is out there or NOT out there having to tighten up and grind out the win for their coach who is doing them no favors.
Literally the same 4-5 pass calls, same 4-5 run calls, that PA fake with the TE coming underneath got blown up about a dozen times and left Book scrambling to the sideline nearly every single time.
McKinley gets one ball, Avery Davis gets a couple, Lenzey gets one...Keys one. Literally 95% of NDs most explosive athletes get about 5% of the touches. NOW...thankfully Kmet and Claypool are studs and stepped up but my goodness...can this offense be any more predictable and basic. And when in doubt...run another crossing route...versus..zone??? Crossing routes are man coverage calls...But not for BK and Co...I feel like every 3rd down has a crossing route in it and it's what Book looks to 9/10 times.
This team is coached to play not to lose but fortunately for these boys they have something in their DNA that allows them to play different when need be...just wished they had a coach who coached the same way...
Jafar was awful. Eichenberg and the rest of the O-Line stunk. Dropped balls. Turnovers. Really stupid penalties. Coaches AND players were not good today.
For them it will be a memorable experience. I think we've forgotten that it's not about us. They are students representing the university and sometimes they fail. Today they found a way to win. Bless 'em.
