We throw a ton of pure jump balls and back-shoulder throws that require acrobatic catches. But, does it seem like Claypool leaves his feet a little too often? We need to get more routes hitting him in stride more.
I noticed on one of the longer throws near the goal line he could have run under it and caught it and instead leaped and caught only to come crashing down. He's awesome and this isn't a detraction just seems he leaves his feet on almost every play when if he stayed grounded more he could get additional YAC. It would also help if more passes to him required his feet on the ground instead of jump balls.
the ball while it is in the air. But overall he is terrific in the one on one and never give up arena. He reminds me of a tough Plaxico Burress who made a career on jump balls. I'll get shit for agreeing with you but I do.
to save Kelly's ass, that anything other than jumping for the ball just seems abnormal to him.

Theoretically, he could have stayed down on a few of them, but he doesn't know if the DB is in position to make a play on the ball. If the DB goes and gets it while he's on his feet, its a turnover.

Add in Kmet and Tremble at TE with McKinley and Keyes in the rotation and it could be very good. Wondering if Tyree has good hands too. That would be a nice addition to Armstrong catching passes out of the backfield.
If we hadn't been throttled so badly in that game, that catch would probably win an ESPY.

saying Claypool does leave his feet more than needed. When coupled with play designs for him to do so it leaves a lot of likely yards on the table.
Tua, Hurst, Mayfield, Lawrence, Fields, Fromm would all either sit the bench for 3 years or spiral out of control bad under Kelly. So, though a "better" QB could improve the likelihood of a "better" QB succeeding is highly unlikely based on the 10-year track record we've seen.
