better than Armstrong. They might not have the supposed speed that Jafar has but they're better backs. Armstrong
has been injury prone and seems to play like it. Time to switch him back to receiver next spring practice.
I like the kid, but he's average 2.9 yards a carry. Still better than Jafar Armstrong, but not the answer. At least not yet.
I mention it because I've seen some clamoring for C'Bo lately. He's been given a decent chance this year (28 or 29 carries). He just hasn't produced. The clamoring is unjustified, and seems to have been based on two runs. An eleven yarder and a two yarder.
Early season before Jones had any big games and the run game was really, really struggling... I know it's hard to pinpoint when exactly that was, because it's been all year. I at one point said given the struggles C'Bo wasn't super impressive but seemed to pick up positive yards even if minimal and maybe should be given more opportunity because at that point we were mostly 1 to negative yards each carry and most plays were being blown up.
He had some better runs then and we don't really have a good running back so I'm confused why we haven't spread the carries around this year. Especially given Armstrong was out a good chunk of the season.
It's really strange because the speed he's flashed and the way he moves, he looks like CJ but then he goes down at first touch and it's like nope nevermind.
I'm not positive he has much top end speed either.
He could be one of those quick guys like Walker who just have no top end. That's less concerning for me at this point...I'm more concerned with 'he's shown power/ tackle breaking near the goal line' but 'goes down with ease anywhere else' which strikes me as an effort issue.

That said, I might even switch Jafar and C'bo since Jafar should be better catching passes.
to prove they can run. Jones had a couple of big games but he's not been overly impressive and until Duke, we really haven't consistently seen much of anyone else.
Carries are
Jones - 95
Smith - 35
Flemister - 29
Armstrong - 28
Davis - 6
Williams - 4
Williams probably should have gotten a lot more carries this year just to see what he is, given the lackluster RB production (some of that the fault of the OL). Davis is talented enough that he probably should have been used in some capacity more than he has. The bigger thing like most Kelly positions it hinges on one guy and hopes that he doesn't get hurt. We don't have one RB that's that much better than the rest. That's just the unfortunate fact about the 2019 roster. Last year it was different. We had that.
