Believed it would help our running game massively to be so threatening with guys and speed like that. Hasn't happened as we've had no deep game at all. Glad to see they are finally being used and I hope we keep going deep to them. And utilizing the sweep with them...no idea why we haven't done that more.
The deep balls to blazing speed, speedy WR sweeps and QB runs are all very necessary to being the team we can be. The short/intermediate passing and straightforward run game is not enough. Necessary, but as a part of the plan...not the whole plan. We can't just line up and run over teams and teams aren't respecting the long-ball. We need to make them defend all of these things and keep them off balance. If we do, we will be very, very difficult to defend.
coverage on our wideouts and dare Book to beat us throwing. The elite teams can do this well because they have better defensive lines and dbs than most of our opponents. Clemson, Georgia, Alabama, LSU and Ohio State (and Michigan this year) would do this and would cripple our offense without the threat of the deep ball.
