First the QB commit Pyne... his highlight reel was seriously impressive to me. In some plays he certainly did stare down receivers and such, but I expect some of that in high school, but several others showed patient reads to check downs. He ran very well when he had to and when he was forced to run always seemed to be keeping eyes downfield. On some broken plays he did a very good job of throwing his receivers open. He just very much looks the part from what I see in the highlights of making reads, pulling guys off with fakes and look-aways, putting the ball where it should be, and being able to run. I know it is highlights, but he looks better to me than his 4 star ranking.
The DE Ehrensberger from Germany.... wow... this kid could be a horrible bust, I admit that, but watching his physical abilities, if he buys in to REAL football coaching and such, his ceiling is NFL all star. I almost feel bad, because I don't know that we have the best coaching that will help him take advantage of all of his abilities, but if we do, this guy will end up being an absolute monster for us.

I wish them both the best.
But the coaching concerns are legit.

Name a DL that Elston has gotten his hands on that has not gotten better.
- Julian Okwara was lightly recruited and will be a NFL draft pick
- Khalid Kareem will be a high NFL draft pick
- Ade Ogundeji was a developmental prospect and has developed into a potential star next year
- Jerry Tillery was recruited as an OT and became a first round pick under Elston
- Before his injury, Daelin Hayes was looking like the best DE on the team this year
- Jamir Jones was another lightly recruited player that Elston got the absolute maximum out of
No, there are not any concerns with coaching along the DL.
I purty sure he suffers from early onset dementia.
There are legit coaching concerns on the O side of the ball.
Elston could coach up the German.
But it makes you wonder.
