Link: Quenton Nelson Endorses Tommy Rees as Notre Dame's New OC
I'm not plugged in to any pay sites or podcasts, but there has been an avalanche of references to how difficult Long was to work with. I believe it was our own Frankie who mentioned Book may have left if Long had come back next year, and somewhere I saw the unconfirmed notion that Miles Boykin left early in part to get away from Long. Again, no idea if either of these is true. Even Pete Sampson made many references to Long's abrasiveness.
I think this had a lot to do w/ the elevation of Rees. Everyone seems to like the guy. That doesn't make him a great coach, but it does point to chemistry.
I'm just surprised by all the anecdotal tales of about Long, because I had no idea.
I have spoken with people who work in the Gug. They have told me that Long was an ass with a short fuse. He not only had problems with players and other coaches, but he was disliked by many of the other people who worked in the football office. Strange that a guy could act like that in his work place, but by all reports, could be a real charmer on the recruiting trail.

incredible opportunity in being the offensive coordinator at Notre Dame made him the right choice,” Kelly said in a statement. “While Tom’s leadership ability and knowledge of the game was evident, it was his humble approach to his own development and desire to continue to grow and learn that were also key factors that set him apart in a talented pool of candidates.”
