the coaching positions???
The Dick Corbett Head Football coach?? Is this common at other schoools...I have never seen that in my life.
Sorry if I'm out of the loop. For a building or library I get but..for coaching positions. Sounds sooo odd.

Not sure when ND started publicizing this option but it is now on the page that shows various types of endowments that are available.
Looks to me like we have the following coaching positions endowed: Head FB and Head men and women's BB plus Head Lacrosse. Most interesting and very relevant at the moment ... the QB coach is endowed as described in the cite. Tommy Rees was the first person to occupy that position before moving up.

Aside: Whomever wrote the description was apparently anticipating the future when players receive salaries and ND begins to get its 85 FB scholarships endowed starting with the "most important" one.
Also found this article about the trend to do this which goes "way back" to 2016 and adds AD to endowment concept. Having been a student back in the early days of "academic excellence" ... one of mantras (often satirical) was "if Harvard did or does it, ND should too" ... took note that the Ivy League schools were the pioneers of this concept ... another article I saw mentioned Princeton has almost every head coaching position endowed (over 20).

It's like having an endowed professorship, only more vital to the mission of the university.

...but it really does look goofy.
