When watching the 49ers vs. Vikings game, I noticed that two of the Vikings were sons of ND football players, and that neither had chosen to go to ND: Anthony Barr from UCLA and Irv Smith from Alabama. Wondering ... in the last decade or so (probably the prime period for the sons of players who were on Holtz’s teams), how many potential “legacy” players were offered by ND but chose to sign elsewhere? Can anyone add additional names to the list?
the list anymore. When it became a business the allegiance a University went out the window.

wanted to play a different position than ND wanted to play him. I'm pretty sure he was a 4 or 5 star RB, but, obviously, is now a LB in the pros. I cannot recall what he played at UCLA and if he played the same position his entire time there.

UCLA told him he could play RB, but then ended up switching him to LB anyway. Of course, it turned out to be his better position, but what would have been if he had played there from the start.
I'm sure everyone can add to the list:
Nick Montana - Washington
Jacob Eason - Georgia
