The game is regional now... down south. The rest of the country sees it as a quaint tradition.

For example, the 2018, 12-1 season, ND scheduled three nat'l traditional powerhouses in UM, FSU, USC Not their fault those teams weren't as good as usual, but do you actually think Bama , or Clemson would do that, you need to check those teams recent schedules..At the end of the yr, ND beat three teams in final rankings including double digit win teams in UM, Syracuse..Additionally ND beat at one time ranked teams in Va Tech and Stanford
ND need apologize to no one for their schedules..And if you really think that ND can schedule the Bamas, Clemsons , Georgias every week, and still make the college playoff, I have a bridge to sell you....Teams are scheduling carefully, yes that includes Saban, and Swinney, and scheduling wisely, i.e. spacing tough games or planning bye weeks before or after TAKE NOTICE....

go 23-3..If you want to butt heads with a very formidable opponent every week, go right ahead, you'll never make the playoffs..No one knows that better than Saban, Swinney With today's athletes being bigger, stronger, faster, the schedule takes a toll, if you play heavyweights every week....Its exactly why a NFL team can win a division going 9-7..where all teams have quality athletes..
So go schedule 5-6 top 10 teams, if that was even possible, given the lead time schedules are made I guarantee you'll be in the 9-3, 8-4 range at best most years..A big win over a top 10 team takes a lot out of a team..
NDs schedule most years matches up with anyone . Wisconsin, Clemson next yr are every tough games, USC always has quality athletes,, and nothing comes easy in the Colisuem.. never take Stanford for granted..
on the amazing part?

...was it when we played Purdue all the time? in 1993 they played Northwestern, BC, BYU, Purdue, Pitt and Navy, all of which should be reasonably "easy". Their big names were Michigan, Stanford (though was Stanford any good back then? I can't remember, I was in high school), USC, and Florida St. Swapping in some ACC schools for the BYUs, Purdues, and Pitts of the world is fine. Just stop.
