Financial strain on athletic departments nationwide brought forth by the coronavirus means College Football Playoff expansion could happen sooner rather than later in an effort to recoup some of the losses expected during the 2020 season.
College administrators are overwhelmingly in favor of Playoff expansion according to a recent straw poll taken by Stadium. A large amount — 88 percent of FBS athletic directors — want more the four teams competing for a national championship at the end of the season once the current contract ends in 2025, the survey showed.
Of those ADs who favor an expanded playoff, 72 percent believe eight teams should qualify. There’s also growing support for including teams outside the Power 5, with 66 percent of the ADs vouching for the highest-ranked non-Power Five team should receive an automatic bid to an expanded playoff.
We want to know where the Miami fanbase stands on a potential expansion of the College Football Playoff.
The first question: Would you be in favor of a College Football Playoff expansion?

I want to see the Playoff abandoned. There is no need for it in College Football. It makes big $ for the networks and its sponsors and those whose brain needs one winner declared. Back to a limited # of Bowls that make money on New Years Day and anyone can declare their own #1 if it makes them happy.
abouts on the dates.
#3 vs. #6 & #4 vs. #5 would happen the first week of bowl season. Would be a great way to kick off bowl season. I would also suggest doing these games at #3 stadium and #4 Stadium.
Lowest Ranked team would play #1 and the remaining winner would play #2 with the same current schedule.
Going to 8 is way too far. Usually you see the argument of 5 & 6 should be swapped for 3 or 4. going to 7-8 is too far at this point.
A few other changes if they expand the playoffs
- Automatic Bye weeks during midterms for all schools. If the NCAA does care about education, force scheduling to prove it.
- If you schedule a FCS team, you are disqualified from the playoffs. I'm looking at you Bama.
I know of no power 5 team that schedules a DII school. That being said, no one is going to be disqualified for playing a FCS (old 1-AA) school. That would be rediculous.
Your other points are good ones. I like a mandatory bye week for mid terms. Taking it further, don't schedule bowl games while schools are coming off of finals. That would push the start of bowl games to around Xmas.
I have edited the post, thank you for the catch.
I do stand by not playing FCS schools to qualify for the playoffs. I believe that if you want to be in the playoffs, you should only play teams that could be eligible for the playoffs. the SEC schools could sub in a sunbelt, mountain west, MAC, or independents in.
I do agree that they shouldn't be playing during finals week as well.

Which isn't necessarily the wrong POV, but the situation makes it even more clear that it's all about the money.
I taught high school for a few years, and became aware that unis were scamming students by way of the Preferred Lender program. The schools received kickbacks for directing students to lenders with the worst loan terms. No one went to prison, and not one school lost accreditation.
Unis also targeted poorer kids because they needed the most loans. That was especially true of out of state public unis. They spent a lot of money poaching kids from other states because they could charge over two times greater tuition than in state students. Had nothing to do with improving academic achievement, it was just about the more student debt.
If it all falls apart, it's none too soon to end this university scam..,

That runs counter to every poll and anecdotal data point that we have to date.
Smells like clickbait.
