Link: Where Does Notre Dame Go At RB After Missing Top Target Will Shipley?
It's close to the least important position in football now. If ND has a bad OL, it won't matter. If ND has a great OL, whoever they get will look great.

Maybe one of them will come to ND instead of Syracuse or Miami (OH).
Maybe.
Mediocrity.
never be in that position with any recruit. If the kid doesn't want competition, then we should think twice about recruiting him.

Nope. Not when Clemson has already signed 2 other 5* star RBs before Shipley even committed to them.
That fact is what makes him choosing Clemson over ND even more upsetting.
It was based on the program that Dabo had built and that they would be at the top for the next 10 years
“Notre Dame did an absolutely incredible job,” Shipley said. “Coach Taylor, coach Kelly, and coach Rees, the push that they made really over the last month made it very, very close at one point. Looking back and putting this in god's hands, he showed me what I needed to see. Clemson, in my mind, is no question the place that I need to be at.
“It was great to be connected with so many people and have so many great relationships in and around Notre Dame,” he said. “I would say that it added a little bit of pressure. When you ultimately make your decision and you're disappointing all of those relationships that you have created, it's tough on you. It was definitely tough on me when I had to call the coaches and call the commits and let them know. I have created such good relationships with them and that made it tough on me. I loved all the relationships I created and I absolutely just cherish all of them."
He also said that not visiting ND, Stanford, and NC State (d/t CoronaVirus) hurt those schools' chances of landing him.
But who knows? An ACL or a better back and he may vanish, and then what? A degree from Clemson will work fine in the South but not nearly as much nationally as one from ND.
But at 18 who looks at odds and the long term? No one. That's why we send the young to war.
But I do hate to see him - and so many others - invoking God when making their decisions.
A friendly tip - God doesn't give a rat's ass where you play football.
