...greatly exaggerated, to the chagrin of some Mayer fans, sorry. Mayer is going to be a beast for ND, but he showed some freshman mistakes today.
Mayer will be great as well, but Tremble is TE1 this year and next.
a lead blocking animal, his pass catching skills have to be terrifying to game plan for out that position, and he even had 1st down run. He's very unique player. Plus, he plays like he enjoys the game. Ask Dungy
He's shown the ability to play as both a TE as well as an H-back, and given how the role of the fullback has diminished significantly these days, he'd fit in with any number of offenses, especially in an Erhardt-Perkins-based offense.

he was a gamer today. Running the ball, catching the ball and blocking his aaaaaaaaaass off all day. Great bounce back!
I dont think anyone way suggesting that Mayer play over Mayer. If anything, they are complementary players. Tremble, for as good of a blocker as he is, still has more speed and athleticism to be a stretch the field tight end than Mayer who figures to do most of his damage within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage right now. Having both play at high levels would be very, very good for this offense - especially since Rees seems to understand how to utilize multiple tight ends better than Chip Long did.

ride them a long ways this yr. No team in country has anything to match them. Very special
Tommy's bad day was simply last week.
Given how he played this week, I think he more than atoned for last week.
loved him. He put on a pro audtion type show today. Love it
They saw him drop a pass and Mayer catch a few passes. Tremble sucks and Mayer is amazing in their eyes based on a few plays.
People that understand the game knew what Tremble’s value is and was.
part of his offence. His blocking and receiving are going to make this O roll
