So far, very few scheduled CFB games have been cancelled or postponed since the abbreviated season began. The postponement of the ND v Wake Forest game is therefore at this point somewhat of an outlier----although the postponement/cancellation numbers can conceivably increase materially in a short timespan. That's not the case presently, however.
Given this fact, the material question is: why the outbreak of infections on the ND team? Is there something deficient in the ND COVID protocols or practices? Or is it more the result of a lack of certain "traits" on behalf of the players? I'm not saying or implying anything on this matter, but the situation at ND doesn't seem to be happening commonly across the CFB universe. I think it's fair to ask why it has happened at ND.
Does anyone here have any information or informed speculation on this matter?
Your argument is null and void.

"The postponement of the ND v Wake Forest game is therefore at this point somewhat of an outlier"
It's not an outlier and there's nothing special about an ND game being postponed. The season is 4 weeks deep and 21 games have been canceled or postponed before the SEC, Big10 and Pac12 have started.
My second sentence is not an argument, it is a statement. It is true this minute and was true when I posted it. 20 games out of how many that are scheduled and will be played?
That said, there is obviously a weakspot in ND's protocols. Contact tracing should reveal what that weakspot is.
Hopefully, this will be an opportunity to learn what happened, and get it fixed to ensure it doesn't happen again. Hopefully we hear from Kelly that they've identified some things (without specifics) they will do differently moving forward.
The team and program have all been very diligent so I doubt anybody did anything "wrong". It's a unique situation and we are all still learning as we go.
And that in hindsight ND would have tried to get everyone in a single instead of living in big groups off-campus.
Sounds like the guys that are out due to contract tracing are out b/c their roomates were positive. If they lived alone (like Book), they would still be allowed to play and ND would have enough guys. Although the 13 positives is serious, the extra 10 out due to contact tracing is what wiped out the WF game.
Don't know if its too late to make that adjustment at this point or not. We'll see.
And of course there were others eg VaTech-NC State, VaTech-Va, UNC-Charlotte
Also, some teams like Clemson had their big COVID outbreaks during the summer
Plus The entire FCS, the MAC, the B1G, the PAC 12, the Mountain West have not played any games so none have been postponed.
I think you are overestimating the Notre Dame situation vis-a-vis the rest of college football.
Remember when almost everyone on Clemson had it earlier in the year? No one left on their team to get it.
I was concerned when hardly any players at ND had it earlier.
