other passes. With Kizer he caught many TD bombs. When he left after 2015 we lost our significant speed in the receiving corps and few people mention how that really hurt us in 2016. Fuller was easily the biggest difference maker. Claypool was great at one on one situations and going high to get the ball but he dropped some easy ones. Fuller dropped but made so many big plays including that flare pass to the outside on which he so often created big plays on. His YAC was off the charts. The QBs all got him the ball from Golson to Zaire to Kizer. The difference was Fuller got open and also on the short passes could make big plays out of them.

Great physical tools, rough technique. Turned into what used to be called a day one draft pick. Developed well over his ND career and continues to do so in the NFL while playing on a stacked team with a HOF QB.
People act like he was a 5 star no brainer future NFL player.
Claypool was a solid "4 star" recruit, a higher rated recruit than Will Fuller (as a comparison). Wasn't considered a "can't miss 5 star," but I think "project" is a stretch.

Viewed as solid talent who needed some seasoning against tougher competition. But not an out of nowhere, which I implied.

Did he have a Heisman-winner or future NFL Pro Bowl QB throwing to him? No, but he got the ball regularly and had the receptions and yards with TDs to prove it. The offense was very good getting him the ball and he became the go-to guy, leaving after a highly productive Junior year.
I thought people were joking about this, but I guess not. You are on the money. Fuller was a star on the field, and whether it was Golson, Zaire, or Kizer, they got him the ball . . . a lot.

Fuller was tied for 6th nationally in TDs his JR season, before leaving early for the NFL. He had 1,258 receiving yards that year. As point of reference, Oklahoma's high-octane offense had a #1 WR with 1,288 yards. Clemson, Ohio State, and Alabama failed to have a WR with as many yards as Fuller -- in fact none of those teams had a WR within 200 yards of Fuller. Despite not returning for his last season, he is all over ND career records lists. If he'd played a SR year, he'd own many of the records. Over his soph and JR seasons, Fuller had 144 receptions, 2,512 yards, and 29 TDs. .
Until he does, though, I do have to agree, that Will Fuller the Fifth, is the best skill position player from the Brian Kelly era.
5 carries for 12 yards and 1 catch for 2 yards... but a TD! I'm just delighted to see him maximizing his opportunity. He's probably made more than the average ND grad will in a lifetime. Now the trick is to avoid a serious injury and invest well.
end up very strong.
