Is this our high water mark with Kelly, or just a stepping stone on way up?

To me it comes down to when Book leaves, seeing if Book's success was from being under Kelly or if Kelly's recent success was more tied to having Book (who is 30-4 as a starter and unbeaten at home).

If we are starting over from scratch (seeing Kelly's old type seasons) when Book leaves, sigh..

Book is a career backup at best, Lawrence is the next John Elway.

It's really the difference.

Book has maximized his talent and Kelly deserves credit for it.

Clemson is just better, especially with Lawrence.

Kelly's only run here that meets minimum expectations, started the game that Book replaced Wimbush at QB vs LSU.

So now what happens when Book leaves... do we find out last 3 years were merely fool's gold?

That's about right but I thought Book showed up today, just no one around him did and Rees had

a bad day. Almost all their players are a better than ours so play calling and finishing is key.

Clemson gets some credit. They changed how their defense played, and it worked.

as 8 other good teams those past years. Our recruiting has gotten better but it is still only 8th or 9th this year. And Book plays well but he is never going to be as good as Lawrence or Watson. I thought Book played his heart out with little help from Rees today or the line today or the receivers being able to get open today.

Listen, the offensive talent is bad.

There's no talent at WR, and Book has no vision.

That's a bad mix.

QB. ND can get enough talent to compete with anybody with an elite QB. 11 yrs in, no sign of it yet.

ND had an elite year from a QB, Kizer, but that was wasted by a refusal of the HC to recognize a terrible mistake in his choice of DC.

Thread Level: 3

Yeah right Kizer has made a real impact as a pro and he had seven opportunities to execute

winning drives in 20116 and never did it.

Thread Level: 3

Disagree. QB talent has been here. BK runs them off or beats em or or coaches the talent out of em.

Danye Crist - 5 Star - BK got him killed
Kizer - 4 star - Only played cause of injury and was the better QB from the beginning. Got hot and BK cooled him off.
Jurko - 4 star - Better athlete, better arm, but too confident, got in the doghouse...BK Ran em off

Now Buchner on tape looks great (don't bother about elite 11 crap) been buoying around 5-star but is BK going to let him play up to his ability or manage him not to make mistakes...Take a guess.

We lack elite QBs

That game would have been far closer with 4-5 other Top 10 QBs...

Book is short and won’t play in NFL

Trask, Fields, Jones, the Clemson backup

Easily 5-7 QBs better than Book all of whom would make that score closer

Is solid. Need a top QB and playmakers (which I am hopeful they addressed this recruiting cycle). I get why people are pissed, but these kids won 16 straight and lost to one of 2 teams that dominate college football recently.
