I'd let the committee vote until after the conferance championship's. They make it interesting but the regular season only get's your foot in the door. Now I bring in Vegas. They don't care about rankings. Being a 19 point underdog does nothing for the Irish. Set up a four team playoff for the top 4 another playoff for 5 -8. This way the best team get's in with the big boys and 5 - 8 should have some great games.

how you voted.
Tell that to the schools that aren't D1.

You do realize ND hasn't finished #1 since 88' and haven't even come close. If my brother, son or grandson came home with a National Championship I wouldn't care what level he played at. On that day his team was the best team on the field.

As a fan would you rather see Notre Dame hoist a trophy because they won against some really good teams or lose like they did against Alabama or Clemson in previous years? If they could even compete that's one thing but this whole season will be forgotten because of what Clemson did & what Alabama will probably do. A nineteen point underdog? That's the largest gap since they've had the playoffs. If they formed that second tier it would be no cakewalk. In back to back game your playing against Top Ten teams.

Crown an actual champion (not have co-champions) and decisively determine who the best team is. I mean, I like the idea in the sense it provides more competitive football and would give nonP5 teams a shot at something but having the winner of the second playoff bracket also be crowned champion doesn’t seem fair nor honest.

Totally know that it wouldn’t change a thing. The same teams would still win it each year and half of the games would still be non competitive
to win three games in a row against very good to excellent teams.
