This article by Driskell pretty much matches up with what most of the posters on this board have been saying all along about Kelly not playing young talented players because they are not yet “complete”.

This continued refusal to play gamebreakers because they aren't "complete" players or might make mistakes is a change Kelly must make. He changed a lot of things for Kelly 2.0, but this is crucial. Is he willing to evolve one more time?
I also see where Driskell is getting flack for being only a D3 coach or his personality. Look, what he says is either well-founded or it's not. Seems to me like he knows his stuff and makes legitimate points.
recruit.
I barely see ND's name in the mix on most of the top 40 players.
pay.
impression that ND has the advantages they had through the 70's and some of the 80's.

How do you know?

ND football players aren’t coming in with 1400 SATs right?
No where close.
Get over it.
thinking about education and getting their degree and those that leave early for the NFL seem to come back to get the degree. They know it is not going to be easy but they also know they can get their degree because of the effort to make them complete their degree.

it is not playing freshmen. Meyer is playing a lot because his talent level is that of a 5 star freshman at Alabama and Clemson. You guys forget that every year we have redshirt freshman and sophomores playing a lot and the same question was asked about they and their playing time as true freshmen. Kyren Williams simply wasn't ready last year until he took the steps necessary to get there. I cannot believe you guys, though well intended, do not see this. It is remarkable the success Kelly has had with diamonds in the rough, who though not dominating players in the pros like so many that Alabama or Clemson have at difference making positions, end up having pro careers even if only solid to marginal that last a decent amount of time. Those players may or may not have been capable of winning a national championship but at least they showed up because of solid, developmental coaching.

He had a 4-star Deshaun Watson and a lotta good players...much like BK has had. What did he do? Coach them to win. Not coach them not to lose.
Good coaching as well but, without Watson there is no Clemson dynasty. IMO.
make a difference game after game.
BK has had 5-Star Dayne Crist, 4 Star Anderw Hendrix, 4-star Malik Zaire, 4-star Deshone Kizer, 4-star Brandon WImbush, 4-star Phil Jurkovec -- a myriad of talent and different styles of QBs. Big qb, small qbs, fast qb's, long release, short release, fiery, heady...alll this in his 10yrs. But who has he been successful with. 3-star Golson, 3-star Book. And when Zaire gets hurt and the notably more talented and suited to the talent around him Kizer gets in he does well until....BK starts coaching him. It's not hard to see the issue now after 10yrs. Deshaun Watson would've been ruined by BK.

career was one very good game and a horrendous injury.
Dr. Hendrix was a gift from Charlie the slob. Painful to watch, especially against SC.
Everett was good, actually very good, until the pressure of being QB1 got to him.
Wimbush was the best athlete on our O but not a QB. Shame he was not shifted to a Procise type runner/receiver role.
And Phil could not beat out Ian on a timetable that worked for him. Plus his lady lives in Boston.
armed drop back passer who offers the threat of the occasional run. Malik was never going to be a good passer, and Kelly would never have gone to a run-based spread. Who was Everett?
fit players into a system.
Kizer had the combination you mentioned. Too bad he left early, as an additional year would have benefited both him and ND.
Everett Golson came close, until the pressures of being QB1 overtook him.

that all of those QBs (save Kizer) were garbage, or mediocre after they transfered.

Didn't win it when Watson was a true freshman.
