1) Did Rees have a problem with Phil which led to his transfer? 2) Why are no back up QBs prepared? 3) Why do you refuse to put all this speed on the field at the same time? 4) Why did you hire an untested young coach with no OC experience to such an important position? 5) You know damn well what and who the big games are. Why such big time fails, especially with plenty of time to prepare for these games?

QB Ty Buchner is one. He arrives this month and should be tabbed as such and groomed accordingly. Clark and Pyne are mediocre. Even if they transfer, Powlus will be the Plan B emergency for the next four years.
We have WRs like Lenzy and Johnson, as well as new recruits, with speed and talent. These guys have to play early and often. No more slow guys like this year. No more BK talk about " traits ". No more guys in BK's doghouse. Use your stars and use them right away!
Williams, Tyree, and Estime form a quality stable of RBs. Feed them the rock and use them in the passing game.
As far as special teams, get a new KO returner. Tyree was mediocre. And get a new punt returner. We can't fair catch every punt. We need returns when possible.
Buchner is the key. He is tall enough at 6'2, he can make all the throws, including the long ball, has big play running ability, is intelligent and has a real feel for the game. He is such a good athlete that he thought about going to Michigan on a lacrosse scholarship.
No more excuses, BK, put the pedal to the metal!
Get an elite prospect for 2022, not a good prospect like Jurkovec or Buchner, but an elite one like Fields, Tagovailoa, Lawrence, etc
Plus he didn’t play this year because his HS cancelled its games. Either way, either he or Pyne should be starting next year. They have the highest ceilings.

Both were very heavily recruited by big schools. Both have potential. ND doesn’t NEED a Fields or Lawrence - Mac Jones isn’t even that good. Someone as good as Sam Howell would have made them competitive.

comfortable with “high floor” type players. He’s content starting game-managers knowing that they won’t lose him games against inferior competition. Yet, they won’t win him games against elite teams. Kizer was an exception. It’ll be interesting to see what he does next year. If he goes with his “next man up” philosophy and starts the kid that has the best understanding of the offense then we’ll probably see Clark. If he wants to play the kid with the most physical/athletic talent then we’ll see Buchner or Pyne.
Also interested in seeing what PJ does next year at BC. His first year starting wasn’t bad. If he breaks out next year then maybe Kelly should have thrown PJ out there and taken some losses to get the kid experience.
Go to YouTube and watch his highlights. You will see. We can't wait for a 2022 QB for this coming season of 2021, and we better have someone in place for 2022, because we open in The Shoe with the Buckeyes and play Clemson later. And in 2023, we play both again.

Fuck not playing freshmen. If they're more talented then older players, tough shit.

You could put vintage Tim Brown or vintage Rocket back there and it would make very little difference. There is never a seam they can exploit. The blocking scheme, if there is one, is terrible. Tyree had one return last night, he fielded it on the 3 and was nearly decapitated on the 10; that’s not on the returner.
Kelly spends no practice time on special teams because he doesn’t think they are important. Until he does, it’s not going to change.
I’ve read that Lou devoted 1/3 of practice to them. Not coincidentally, he had great STs. Look at Bama’s kickoffs last night. They kicked off 6 times and every one of them went to the same spot in the field. They had a plan.
New returners won’t change anything.
